Default VH has never sounded better?

Longtime VH fan here. Missed on this tour and I'm regretting it but I've been watching the shows on youtube and they sound amazing. Is there overdubbing involved or something? Not trying to start something, but it shocks me how bad Eddie was the past tour and how great he sounds now. DAve's vocals are even better than 78 and Wolfgangs background vocals sound as good as Michael Anthony. Or am I missing something? Eddie looks great. Dave looks great. They look like they found the fountain of youth or something. It's all great don't me wrong, I just am amazed how great they sound and look.

WTF...Never sounded better? Obviously you never heard the original line up or there is no way you could make that statement. No way. I have seen them 81-84 and this tour. The only comparison is they play the same songs. I give you this. Al hasn't missed a beat. He still sounds has good today has he did 25 years ago.

VH never sounded better? Wow I'm scared for some of you guys. Wolfgang's backing vocals sound as good as MA's? I thought it was Christmas not April Fool's Day.

No way. I love old school VH (or at least 3/4ths of it) but no way do they sound better than ever. With Dave singing this is probably the worst tour they've done together. Dave and Eddie are very average at best. Al might be the only one that sounds better than ever. Wolfgang....eh...........
I can't remember which comedian said it, about the current state of Van Halen, but he said right now, Van Halen is like a really hot playboy playmate with a prosthetic leg.

    BRING BACK THE CLASSIC LINEUP!

I can't even have an opinion on ANYTHING anymore unless it's exactly what everyone else thinks...oh and if I do it means I HATE this album, and hope it fails. Man some of you can fuck off...seriously. - BRETT

the two bootlegs I have of this tour sound better than any boot I have heard in the past. not a big deal but yeah this tour sounds damn good overall.
If eddie were down and out on a sidewalk playing guitar I'd be next to him with a bottle and a blanky braving the cold. I would be sucking my thumb happily making chupa chupa noises in sync with the petroglyphic sounds that came from the mighty finger tips of Edward Van Halen.

Maybe I jumped the gun there. I just thought they sounded good. Maybe it's the bigger stage and the whole spectacle of it. I think Dave has definately lost something in his voice but I've heard some early takes where he doesn't sound good either. Especially some of the very early boots. They sound terrible in some of them. The oakland shows and the monsters of rock being some of the better sounding ones on youtube that sound much better obviously. I dont go that far back. I saw basically every tour with Sammy except the last one where they sounded like crap. Sammy obviously was a better singer technically than dave is now and Eddie was more spot on during the 5150 and right here right now tours. Especially during the Balance tour they sounded great live. But I just thought they sounded good for their age. It's a shame Dave can't scream like he used to.... I agree Mike is missed obviously but Wolfgang sounded good imo. His stage presence is another story lol. same with dave and eddie and the rest of the band. You can tell DAve has gone the vegas lounge act with a lot of his moves and cant move around like he used to.

I think you're benefitting from better technology that's available today than say, '84.

To me, all the '84 era boots sound like they are playing too fast.

They peaked in `81 if you ask me . They were on fire in `86 due to new found happiness and the `95 Balance tour was very impressive .
