cue the public outrage and indignant self righteous comments please...

this is so retarded...people have been doing this sort of thing for as long as other people have been putting gay ass displays on their lawns. Just because these people were too retarded to go out screwing with lawn decorations when they were kids doesn't mean they need to act like tools now.

And as for the coach...I wish my junior high coach was that cool! Mine thought he was trying out for the head coaching job and Ole Miss or some shit everytime gym class started...fucking bastard.

    HOE - HOE - HOE

Woman Accused of Groping Connecticut Mall Santa While Sitting on His Lap
    Tuesday, December 18, 2007

A 33-year-old woman who posed for a picture with Santa Claus at Danbury Fair Mall over the weekend wanted more than a photo, police said.

Sandrama Lamy, of Sleepy Hollow Drive, inappropriately touched a worker dressed as Santa on Saturday while sitting on his lap, police said. She is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and breach of peace.

Lamy is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Danbury Jan. 3. She was released on a promise to appear.

Police were summoned to Santa Square at the mall Saturday around 8:45 p.m. where the Santa Claus on duty said a woman touched him inappropriately, police said.

The woman, later identified as Lamy, had approached the Santa chair and sat in his lap to have her picture taken with him, police said. The assault occurred as she posed for the picture, police said.

that's pretty funny...but damn, there are just way way way too many "news" outlets having to churn out product if this and that story about the coach and his kids playing pranks actually makes it...

Sorry, dude, but this is bad. In fact, I'm thinking it's being UNDERPLAYED here. This is really bad. This is another case of an adult in an authority position trying to be cool and be the kids' friend, vs. acting like he's supposed to - a role model and authority figure to help mold them into responsible citizens. Scoff all you want, but coaches are HUGE in athlete's lives. They are probably the #1 figure in forming how these kids develop, after their parents, if not even before their parents.

Not saying this guy should go to jail or anything, but he is indicative of a lot that's wrong with society. We have threads here bitching about lousy parenting, lousy role models, etc. This is just more of that. Shame on this guy, he is a failure of a human to act that way as a coach.

Just the kids doing it - that's funny. Add in the "responsible" adult - that's just sad.

I am a coach and have been a coach for Little League since 1995 when I was 22 years old. I couldn't even IMAGINE doing something like this with my kids. It doesn't even register as "fun" or "team bonding" which I'm sure is what this coach had in mind. You are a coach for a few reasons...and teaching vandalism, destruction of property, and lude acts are definitely not any that should be in a coaches book. I coach to teach children life lessons in this order:

    1. Sportsmanship
    2. Respect (for the game, your coaches, your teammates, and opposing players)
    3. Play hard and leave it all out on the field
    4. Community service (this does not include making Rudolph and Blitzen 69 on someone's front lawn)
    5. HAVE FUN!! (I teach them that there is a difference between goofing off and having fun...and sometimes it is a fine line)

This guy should be BANNED from being anywhere near kids as a coach for the rest of his life. This is not just a minor league screw up...this is major league.

Ok placing the reindeer in compromising positions, that's funny. The coach driving kids around town to do this is an outrage. Any adult your child has contact with at school has to be held to a higher standard. They can't be promoting breaking the law. He's just a plain idiot and ought to be fired.

    right on cue!

nothing against you guys personally because we're all friends here on the links...but I just think this is just silly...i'd be the first one to want to fry the guy if he'd been doping them up and molesting them or selling them crack or teaching them to chop block the other players or whatever, but come on, everyone was just goofing around...when I was a kid our choir teacher played pranks on other teachers, parents of some of our friends would do the driving when they wanted to wrap some kid's house in toilet paper...it's all fine. No need the for the righteous indignation. I'm sure the coach will get fired and blackballed and have to move and all that shit so everyone can go back to bed resting easy and blanketed in the comfort that comes with ruining a person's life for no reason at all so let's just relax.

I hear you dude. And no, perhaps his life shouldn't be ruined, but he should be punished (more on that later). I'm on the fence about whether he should get a second chance, I guess it depends on his record up to now.

But that said, you don't get it, and it's obvious you don't get it. I don't know you, but I'd tend to believe you weren't an athlete, a coach and/or a parent. As someone who was/is all three, this is appalling, and I DON'T tend to overreact on this shit. In fact, I'm usually the voice of moderation on here in these things, saying there's always another side to it, we're not getting enough info to hang the person, etc.

Like I said, I'm on the fence about how much this idiot's life should be ruined - for some of the reasons you said - but the punishment should be swift and severe. And if he's had other problems, they should definitely show him the door.

I think we're getting anesthitized (spell?) by all of the teacher sex scandals. You don't have to get a kid high or have sex with him/her to be a horrible influence and deserving of severe (relative) punishment. Teachers and coaches are in positions of immense impact, and need to behave like it. IMO part of the reason society is struggling in some areas right now isn't about liberalization, or bible thumping - it's about shitty parenting and shitty role models in the academic system. I think they go hand in hand, as asking teachers to hold up both ends isn't realistic or fair. Regardless, this idiot was on one end of that spectrum, and he failed spectacularly.

i was an anthlete for most of my youth and young adulthood. I played baseball, basketball and football from elementary school on through high school. I was also a coach. In fact I was one of the most requested and popular coaches our YMCA had. Sadly, my work and music schedule no longer allow me to participate but I help out whenever I can. So please, spare me the lecture on what it means to be an athlete or a coach and all that jazz. I still have and cherish all the thank-you and appreciation gifts and cards the parents of my kids gave me at the end of each season.

I see nothing terribly wrong with this situation...if anything they had adult supervision while they were out having fun...like a lot of my friends and I had when we were wrapping houses or whathaveyou. There's nothing "shitty" about helping kids be kids. There is something pretty shitty about dropping someone in the grease over something that supposed to be funny. Why didn't another parent grab a few other kids and go fuck with the coach's decorations? Oh wait, I forgot, two wrongs don't make a right. Perhaps I just lacked propper parental and academic role models myself and I'm completely screwed....

Jesus christ. If this is what gets people arrested we are in for a rough time.

Firstly, it is a shame we don't actually get to see exactly what they did to the displays but.....using one's imagination etc

    How is this "porn"?
How can a garden display be "made" x-rated?
One of the people in the article was given the adjective "victimised"....wtf?

At the very worst this is immature behaviour and probably inadvisable but come on, it was prank that, despite what the newspaper seems to claim, I doubt had any "victims", at least in my understanding of the way that the word was being used.

Children do this kind of thing as do adults. It's called humour, blowing off a little steam and having fun. No-one got hurt, I am assuming that no-one was financially damaged and if you want to go down this road, there is more pornography in the average tame pop video than could be possibly even imagined in xmas icons being arranged in these positions.

I am a teacher and school director and whilst i have not done this before, I would certainly not consider it a legal or career ending matter. At worst I would feel a little embarrassed at being a little bit stupid.

Thinking about it, this little spark of harmless creativity and fun should be congratulated, in my very humble opinion.

Too many people with serious faces and unyielding lines of what is tasteful are, again in my very humble opinion, liable to create a generation of either repressed bores with no imagination or tense kids who try to hold it together in a grey world until they just finally snap. On this matter, I am not joking.

i agree that calling this porn is just trying to get a rise out of people (no pun intended). All that said, this was a very stupid decision on his part . He should have known better. As usual some will wrongly call for him to be thrown in jail while others somehow call this "harmless creativity and fun that should be congratulated" . Both are way off base. The guy should be apologizing to a bunch of people and I'm sure his boss should be speaking to him. Unless there's something else to this story, I don't think much more is needed.

the only capacity in which he used poor judgement or should have known better was not realizing that people would overreact and he'd get in trouble. But people's indignation does not make this HARMLESS prank wrong...it just makes those people uptight jackasses and him to indealistic, naive, or stupid to know that most people would get their peepees all achey over the whole thing.

So when did vandalizing other people's property become funny? I guess I missed that memo. I honestly hope that you guys that are okay with this type of behaviour, especially from an adult in a position of authority, never have something that you care about desecrated for someone else's chuckle.

What's next? Shaving your neighbour's animals and violating his women (or vice-versa)? I don't know if the guy needs to go to jail - if there's any damage to the decorations they vandalised there should definitely be a fine, though. And he needs to be sentenced to attend some sort of leadership seminar.
