    Default Awesome Christmas Movies...

My favorite, all-time Christmas movie is "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". Yes, there's "It's A Wondeful Life", "A Christmas Carol", "A Christmas Story", but "Christmas Vacation does it for me every time. A close second would be "Scrooged".

"Clark: Hey. If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit he is. Hallelujah! Holy shit...Where's the Tylenol?"

"Clark: Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse!"
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"It's a Wonderful Life" was on the other night here at work, and I think that I am about the only person in the world who hasn't seen it.

A Christmas Story is my entire family's favorite. I know it's been overplayed at this point, but I still laugh every time I watch it. I seem to laugh more at the Old Man as I get older..

The kids favorite is also the Grinch.

I think "Christmas Vacation" is waaaaaaaaaay overrated. It has it's moments, but overall I think it pretty much sucks.

I'd say "A Christmas Story" is easily the best. I don't think it can be topped.

    I agree 100%.

"A Christmas Story" is, in my opinion, pretty darned close to perfection.

Die hard....kinda counts in my book.

One that hasn't achieved "classic" yet, but is worth putting in the running would be The Polar Express. That's actually a pretty danged good movie.

Thank you for saying that! The Muppet Christmas Carol is indeed the shit. Michael Caine should have won an Oscar for his adaptation of Scrooge.

Oh, and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is my all-time favorite though. It's a family tradition. We quote lines from that movie all year round! You gotta be proud, Ed.

    I forgot one:

"It's a Bundyful Life", with Sam Kinison as Al Bundy's guardian angel.

If that's not a classic, I don't know what is.

and the Great Gonzo got overlooked by the Academy as well.

The great thing about that movie are the funny lines when you don't expect them. I remember watching it in the theatres. I was about 18 i think, and a buddy and me went to it. It's us and a bunch of parents with little kids. My friend had his Nikki Sixx look going for him back then and no one would sit in the same row as us. The movie starts with a group of pigs (business men) in suits walking through town and they have the following dialougue:

Pig 1 - Well, that was a fine meal. What should we do next?

Pig 2 - How bout lunch?

Pig 1 - Yes, good idea.

    I almost pissed my pants.

I watch that movie a couple of times every Christmas season and I still laugh through the whole thing. And I come near tears almost every year when Michael Caine asks if Tiny Tim is gonna make it.
