The Mike and Punks clip is more enjoyable... higher energy, the bass drives the song as it was intended.

I don't care much for Ed's improvization crap he's added to that song... too much wanking going on. Plus the slug on bass slithering down the runway from the Greensboro clip really does take away from the performance and energy. That ain't the Mighty Van Halen... timidly tiptoeing around on stage... especially on one of their most rebellious, enthusiastic songs.

The "magic" of Ed and Dave can't fill that gaps on that one!!

    Not a fair comparison..
the Atomic Punks version is a much better mix than the Greensboro clip recorded with a crappy camera from quite a distance..

I know what you mean by the 'energy', but again, not a fair comparison. the AP's are clearly pumped by MA's precense on stage, and I am guessing that Mike only joined them for a couple of songs, rather than a full gig. so he has more energy to 'burn' rather than to 'spread' it over a 2 hour concert.

bottom line, I know what point you are trying to make, but it's not a valid one.

Ok, you win. Have the Atomic Punks tour with Sammy and Mike. Not only would they kick Van Halen 2007's ass, but Hannah Montana, Led Zeppelin and The Police. Jury is still out for Avril Lavigne but I think they could take her too.

the Atomic Punks are very good at what they do but this is just stupid. I'm sure you could find a thousand guys who can play VH's material better than VH can at this point, but there is something special that comes from the artist playing the material that they wrote.

That's the one thing that is missing from this current tour, that special feeling of one of the artists missing from the performance. But to compare Mike playing with a cover band to EVH, AVH and DLR playing with Wolfie is insanity. Makes me wonder if some of you guys are Van Halen fans. Or maybe you just hate Ed so much that you're blinded by everything he's involved with. I'm convinced that if Mike was backstage playing for Wolfie at a current VH show that many of you would still say it sounds like crap.

What's the point of this? To tell us you're angry that Mike isn't in the band anymore? Gee, that's fresh.
    .
    .
    .
VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.
