Well, if you start with Unchained, your guitarist will have to tune for the next song and you won't be able to segue into your second song. Of course VH made tuning down for that song part of the song when they did it live. I don't think anybody used those little silent/bypass tuners back then. Besides, that song is killer for towards the end of the night. Speaking of that, quite often I'll end the night with Growth, the little 15 second clip of a song at the end of In A Simple Rhyme (starts at 4:20) on WACF. None of the people at our shows (Top 40 cover band) even knows what it is, but they dig it.

Anyway, I vote for Romeo's Delight. Back in the day we used to open with it and it killed.

Tora! Tora! is kinda cool to start the night as just an intro to almost any song.

By the way, I am considering putting together a VH tribute band here in eastern Virginia to make some serious bank. If any one out there can act like Roth, play like Ed, or play bass and sport a mullet - email me. Must live nearby to Virginia Beach. starcalledsun@hotmail.com

EVH: Definitely. Playing guitar was my sanctuary. It was the one place I could go to if I got fucked around by a girlfriend, or anyone else, for that matter. It still is. If thereís something I canít deal with, I can just spend hours playing. Itís a God-given gift Ė I certainly donít know where the ideas come from. Theyíre obviously given to you, and you have to keep your fingers moving and your mind quiet. I try my best to not think about thinking, so I can just let it flow. Because when I start thinking, forget it. <br />So....why he isn't playing guitar ? ? ?

I live in St. Louis so I can't make it out there, but I'm curious as to what your set list is. That way I can at least imagine that I went to the show. I agree with saving Unchained for the end of the night, I would start with Running With the Devil or something easy like that to get the crowd's attention.

Also, if you guys have any recordings or have a website I would love to hear what you guys play and how you sound.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

Best of luck to the band though! Their axeman should be playin' for the Atomic Punks, without a doubt, he's that good.
I hope they kick much ass at their debut!!!

Oh, dont get me wrong, Brett. Russ is a killer! I should know, I've seen 'em with Bart, Brian and Russ. Opened up for 'em a couple of years ago, when I was stiil a drummer playing with a Hendrix tribute called "The Purple Haze Experience".
They SMOKE....and Russ definitely shreds.

I was just makin a comment on my former bandmate's ability...... I should have used the word "could" instead of should.....if Russ is the next guy to go the DLR way, they shold look at Derek....a definite standout in his band.

On Fire is now going on at 9:30pm instead of 11:00pm.

This seems more like a reasonable time on a Thursday night.

I hope to see you there!
