Were you around in 2004....you couldn't unplug your ears without hearing that damned sustainer...every fucking song.....

I agree....it almost seemed like a crutch to have that thing on his guitar!

I had one in an old parts guitar of mine a couple of years back. IMO they're absolute garbage for a main guitar.

You can do some cool things with it in the studio as far as ambient color type of stuff, but for live playing they're useless.

I loved the Sustainer on Humans Being and Me Wise Magic. I'm thinking about getting one somewhere down the line mainly to use in conjuction with my volume pedal. Ed did tend to abuse the thing though.

I'm still working on my custom Wolfgang that'll have a Sustainer (finishing the clear coat).

I hear it for a few select ideas on some new songs. So for me it'll be mostly a studio guitar.

I think Ed has stayed away from it this tour because there really isn't a lot of room for him to work it into those old VH songs. As it is he seems to be almost forcing the use of the wah pedal in places.

...COMPLETELY off-topic, but I love the fact that there are still people (and we see it almost every day around here...in just about every forum) who are just now getting into VH...over 10 YEARS since they've done anything relevent...

    ...sorry, back on topic *now*...

I have a sustainiac system and its pretty cool, the single coil pickup is pretty sterile however good thing I have Splawn Amp...honestly used in the right context such as maybe Satch and Vai, you may have something...then again used like EVH...its not a happy thing...

I never did care for the single coil tone Ed got when he just played the Sustainer pickup. When I boguht my Sustainer system I made sure to buy the humbucker version.

I really wanted a single coil pickup cause I had been listening to a lot of John Mayer at the time and thought it would be cool...Every other guitar I have has dual humbuckers, i thought a change wouldnt be such a bad thing...
