    Default HAM: "Delicious for Chanukah"...

Store goofs; Offers ham as Hanukkah food

Thu Dec 6, 3:49 PM ET

NEW YORK - This was REALLY not kosher. A grocery store in Manhattan made a food faux pas, advertising hams as "Delicious for Chanukah."

Chanukah — an alternate spelling for Hanukkah — is the eight-day Jewish holiday that began Tuesday evening, and hams — as well as pork and other products from pigs — can't be eaten under Jewish dietary laws.

A woman who saw the mistake over the weekend at the Balducci's store in Greenwich Village took pictures of the signs and posted them on her blog.

Jennifer Barton, director of marketing, told The Associated Press on Thursday that the signs were changed as soon as the error was noted.

She issued an apology on the company Web site, saying the company would be reviewing its employee training.

Hee hee, many moons ago I was Public Relations Director for Balducci's, when it was still a world famous but small family-owned store. This gaff wouldn't have happened under my watch!

I'm in a mood so bear with me....

Notice how the store didn't recieve death threats, no throngs of angry crowds demanding that the place be torn/burned down or no corresponding marches in Israel.

Sure, the management is going to have to listen to a few lectures but that's it, maybe and then again maybe everyone will have a good laugh and get on with their lives.

    Just pointing stuff out.

Who's to say us gentiles dont enjoy ham during Hanukkah? Im offended that this is so dismissive of MY right to savor a delicious pork product. And now the signs have been changed, so I might not even think "Hey, ham WOULD be deilicious during this joyous season"! I feel so slighted by these unfeeling retailers....

...In fact, it will probably be Kevin Bacon getting in trouble for calling Mia Hamm's husband "pork chop"!

Here's an idea: Try reading the article.

Did you see that episode of "Mythbusters" where they tested various "Coke" myths? The soda failed miserably in all categories exept for one area: It works remarkably well as a chrome cleaner and polisher.

Sort of makes one wonder what it does to one's stomach.

Well then the shower is gonna take the Pepsi challenge this weekend.

What are all the 'coke myths' anyway?

Primarily as a cleaner, and for removing corosion. That thing about pouring it in the toilet and letting it sit for an hour or so to remove stains is bogus by the way.

They also experimented with the deal where one adds a few "Mentos" to a 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke and it shoots a stream of soda like a fountain, as well as the "Pop Rocks And Coke Exploding Stomach" thing that supposedly killed the kid (Mikey) from the "Life cereal" commercial.
