Holy crap. THAT was badass. Ed definately peaked in 86, then again in 95. I hope he has one more year like that left in him somewhere.

I have. It doesn't. His live tone sucked in the early 80's. Go find one better....
you can't. His live tone was all full of effects in the late 70's and then was just tinny and crappy in the 80's. Now it just flat out sucks. He is chasing crappy tones.

definitely an incredible performance...he has always been one of the sickest tremolo pickers I've ever seen...its almost robotic...

as for being buff...he almost looks he has some baby fat...at least compared to the emaciated sinewy leanness that he's been sporting the last few years...

oh please i think this live tone nearly hits the 80-84 album sound that made him who he is.

I find it odd that some extremecvh/rothards will deny even the possibility that an EVH solo spot past 1984 could've been great. It's like after Roth left everything sucked. "Alex hit the cymbals way better in 1983, coz Roth was there to inspire him." The man was so powerful, his absence made the other musicians forget how to play their instruments! Unbelievable!

I don't think anyone is saying that. Just maybe the person actually prefers Ed's live tone from the 70s and early 80s. Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they have a hidden agenda.

I have seen every tour since Diver. His best spot I have seen was from 1986. But it is also very hard for me to say he was the best then because it was one night from an 80 stop tour, it could have been his best night on the tour, and the night I saw in 91 might have been the worse. Who the hell knows, he is an amazing guitar player no matter when you saw him.

As for Alex's playing after Dave left, he was just probably very happy that Dave wasn't there to do splits off of his drum riser with nothing but chaps on anymore!
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!
