More power to him, he likes what he's doing and so do the people who buy the tickets...

I'm sure he likes what he's doing....but....he's playing to high school crowds as far as numbers go.

i guess it just goes to further prove the old adage to a 't':

"the sum really is greater than the parts"

and that holds true for ALL of them....

the roth fans think roth is the greatest of all time, yet only show up in ribfest #'s
the sam fans like sam the best and can support only theatres....

(and dont think it would be ANY different if ed were to go out on his own right now)

yet, any version of the overall mix comes together and we fill many an arena....

When he goes out, and plays the sheds in the summer he usually sells those out! So he still draws a crowd, just because he plays small venues, it doesn't mean he can't fill the bigger ones! He's haveing some fun, and makeing a few bucks while he's at it!

is he making enough money to pay for that fancy stage and props??? It would appear by the $$$ figs it wouldn't pay for the cost of the tour.

it isn't all about selling out arena's...some of the best show's i've seen have been in the smaller theatres and clubs...i'm looking forward to the day (if they are still playing then) when i can see VH in a small venue. It's also a concentration of Sam's biggest and most true fans...the 4000 people at the Fox in Detroit were every bit as energized as the 20,000 that saw VH in Toronto.
...and in the end, on dreams we will depend...

on avg he'll gross about $9 mil on this tour run...not including merch, and concessions (beer/food) for the venue...

I agree! The smaller venues sound so much better, and everyone seems to be in to the show a lot more. It's nice that everyone is a lot closer to the bands etc...

I'd be at a Hagar/Anthony show in a second if they made a stop in the Twin Cities on this tour. (I couldn't afford the time or $ to travel for this one.) I'll take a small venue/theater tour ANY DAY over an arena for seeing a band I truly appreciate. Arenas and stadiums SUCK; you can't see shit, the drunk asshole yelling in your ear next to you is distracting as all hell, tickets cost a helluva lot more, and you feel like a sheep trying to get in and out. 15,000 people is a concert experience, yes. 2,500 is a party. I'll take the party.

thanks to the growth of Cabo Wabo he can finance anything he wants. Couple that with all the royalty checks and he can afford damn near anything.

Sammy is attracting high school sized crowds and VH is attracting high school kids to play in their band FULL CIRLCE!

Sammy has said that with Cabo Wabo promoting the tours money isn't an issue because the tequila bid'nes pays the expenses. I'm sure the cash they make is to pay the band and Sam is probably getting his money froom Cabo Wabo.

I'm not sure how it all works but I don't think money is an issue.

Oh and Sam threw quite a party earlier this month in Joliet with just about 2200 of his closest friends. You know its so funny that DLR (I'm a fan, relax) always claimed to be the party. That's pretty funny considering he is doing cookie cutter shows on this tour and its staged to the hilt (this is where I ride the blow up mic, don the silly hat or make motorcycle noises) while Sam has got a true party vibe going where one show is different from the next.

    Default The Party

Sam has always been about hosting the party and Dave has always claimed to be the party. I can't agree about giving Dave grief casue he is just doing what he has too in order to be the singer. I personally don't blame him. Ed has him on a short leash.

Once Dave realizes that Sam won't ever go back if there is no Mike in VH. And there will be no Mike as long as Wolfgang wants to play, Then Dave is going to realize that maybe he actually holds the cards and not Ed. Then we will see the Diamond David Lee Roth we all expected to see
