    "I Am Legend" Theatrical Release...

Some of you older folk may recognize this as the third filmed version of Richard Matheson's novel "I Am Legend", the first being "The Last Man On Earth" (starring Vincent Price) in 1964, followed by "The Omega Man" (Charlton Heston) in 1971. This one stars Will Smith, and will be released December 14, 2007.

Just saw this trailer on TV last night, and thought Omega Man...
Looks interesting... Currently watching Will Smith in I, ROBOT right now for the 1st time... Decent movie, minus the cartoony chase scene...

This movie trailer is a good example of the problem with most movie trailers these days. It is so quick cut, teeming with action and features only obscure snatches of dialogue. The casual viewer has only a fleeting idea of what the movie is about. That's why these days, unless there are particular actors I really, really like, I wait for the reviews.

I hear that this film will be closer to Omega Man rather than Last Man on Earth which was more faithful to the original novel..... I was hoping for vampires instead of flesh eating zombies......still looks cool though.

Richard Matheson has wrote some great stuff......books and screenplays.....he wrote the screenplay for "Duel" which is one of my all-time favorites.....

Here's a little known fact..........the Truck Driver in Duel was a stuntman named Cary Loftin, who also did some of the driving for McQueen in Bullitt

"Duel" was outstanding. It was rereleased on DVD a couple of years ago.

Duel is one of my favorite movies of all time, and my favorite Spielberg movie. Always figured the "driver" had to be a stuntman. Why cast an actor? It's not that one sees more of him than his hand.

But was it the writing that made that film so fantastic or the directing?

It definitely had to be the cinematography, which was simply astounding throughout the film. Some of the camera angles (beneath and beside the truck, the chilling rear view mirror scenes) were quite trend setting for 1971, and made more remarkable when one remembers that this was a low budget made for tv movie!

I actually really liked the trailer. That lone aircraft career probably did it for me though. Very Fallout-ish

Being an avid Asimov reader, I thought "I, ROBOT" was an abomination because of Hollywood's need to put in the cartoony stuff. I must give Will Smith credit though. Its hard to remember that he was once just a Rap MC. Top notch actor in my book. I'll be seeing "I Am Legend".

Just what we need. Another remake. Does anyone have a good NEW story?!?!?! Who needs the writers anyway. Laziest bunch of assholes I've ever seen. Come up with something new or you don't get paid.

I agree with you in most cases, however the trailer for this movie, IMO, shows just enough. I actually don't want to know or see much more.
A lot of movie trailers these days, as you pointed out, are too choppy and confusing. The "I Am Legend" trailer looks good and leaves me intrigued enough to go see the film.

However, I am currently looking more forward to seeing "No Country for Old Men" this week.
