Default Dec 3rd: Van Halen on Fuse Videos That Rocked The World

hey everyone, i work at Fuse in NYC. We're airing a series starting Nov. 26th called Videos That Rocked The World. It's basically 10 videos that have made an impact. Each video/artist gets a half hour show where various musicians/music journalists talk about the band/video and it's impact. I've already seen episode 1 with Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. It's pretty good. Anyway, Van Halen will be featured on episode 6 on Dec 3rd at 10pm ET. The video is Hot For Teacher. I haven't seen the episode yet. Haven't even seen footage for it so i'm not sure who speaks about them (the nirvana ep had dave grohl, krist noveslic, joe levy from rolling stone, etc). But anyway i just wanted to give you all a heads up. Also after the show is Loaded which is just a 1/2 hour of videos by that band (in this case, Van Halen).

Damn I'm going to miss it. But that doesn't matter since I'll see Van Halen on Dec. 3 anyway.
A recent study shows 92% of the teenage population likes rap music. If you are part of the 8% who listen to real music, put this as your sig.

How did HFT rock the world? Cool song but what's really revolutionary about the song or the video? I could see Jump being one because when that came out it was very different from anything out there.

HFT was pretty big as a video at the time. I do agree the "Jump" video was actually more "revolutionary" if you can believe that. But HFT was pretty creative for its time.

exactly. That video was IT for me and many others. It was a great concept video if you can call it that. Very original at the time. The chicks! the Band having fun! The mini version of the band- it had everything
Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.

I think with HFT, it was about the sex appeal of the video. After that, you started to see more scantily dressed women in videos acting nothing more than eye candy.

Jump however had more of an impact on music since it gave the ok for hard rock/metal bands to use keys in songs.

HFT is one of the best MTV videos ever.

It's freakin hysterical and captures all the VH is about. The jump video was good as well but no comparison to HFT

I agree When i think of VH during that time, Hot For Teacher (even though I was never a big fan of the song) always seemed to capture the band's appeal. As for jump as much as I enjoy the no frills apect of the video it always remined me of of the rolling stones "start me up" video so it didnt seem as original as HFT.

I just watched the rough cut of the Hot For Teacher episode. Mike is in it, as is Pete Angeles and Jerry Kramer (the producer). Also the kid who played Mike is in it. Also Sebastian Bach, Dave Grohl and some music journalists. It's a pretty entertaining 1/2 hour. Check it out Next Monday at 10pm on Fuse.
