    Default Greetigs From San Francisco

What's happening? My fiancee and I are out here in San Fran for a business trip (her) and vacation (me). It's beautiful here. Lots to see. We're staying at the base of the Oakland Bay Bridge, along the piers. We're doing our sightseeing today. We'd like to see Golden Gate Park, Haight-Ashbury, Ghirardelli Square and Pier 39 had lots of cool shops. I've been on the lookout for Van Halen merchandise - I saw a place called Antiquities of California that carries signed movie posters, props and signed guitars. They had a signed Fair Warning album for $500 and 2 miniturized guitars, framed and signed (seperately) for $1200. I will post pics of those when I return this weekend. Suprisingly, the Hard Rock had next to nothing - not even Mad Anthony sause. Will post some pics on return. Rock on.

    FW for $500??? Wow.

Have a great time in my city. Oh and pick me up a Freddie's sandwich.

There used to be a kewl rock shop over on Polk St. that carried all kinds of memorabalia (sp?) but I'm sure it's long gone by now. It was right across from a movie theater but of course I can't remember the name of the theater.

    Looking forward to the pics.

Yeah, thats a cool store but a bit pricey. I can't imagine spending that kind of dough on any signed memorabilia but I think you can negotiate with them if you really want something. Have fun in SF!

Shipping back to the East Coast is extra.

I think I'll have some Freddie's for lunch today. Thanks, smithjc.

Hey fiftyonefifty, if you're in the north beach area later this afternoon, stop by the Red Jack Saloon on Bay and Stockton and I should be in there having a drink or two. If you stop in, we'll have a few beers.

    Hey Mark,

Is Vinyl Solutions still around in San Mateo? From what I remember it was on 20th or 25th. I used to cruise up there and purchase a TON of "live, rare imports" aka bootlegs. They had a great selection!!

Okay you officially suck. I hope you know that.

And what's this crap about a saloon on Bay and Stockton???? I used to live on Stockton between Francisco and Bay streets and there was no saloon there. There used to be just apartments on all corners. How the frig did they fit an entire saloon in that area??

    Just wondering.

And whattabout the Bay Bridge? Did I miss something yet again?

EDIT: Nevermind, just read about it...........

Freddie's was sure good... The bar has been here for well over thirty years, at least. The current owners have had it since '92. It's on Bay between Stockton and that little street Midway. You are right though, there are apartments all around it. Great little place to hang out at. I believe the old name was Hourigan's throughout the '70's and '80's. I will gladly have a beer for you since I am here as I type this message.

Okay that other name sounds familiar, as does the little alley way. God I'm old.

btw - I'll bet that brewage is pretty good after that sandwich. Hope you enjoyed it.

    J/K!

I really need to visit the old hometown some day. I really miss it.

1Foot, sorry about not being able to get to you. We ran out of our hotel from 8 this morning till 9 tonight. We went from to Haight-Ashbury to Golden Gate Park - then over to Fisherman's Whar to Rainforest Cafe (Shit that was an expensive lunch.) We then took an hour cruise around the Golden Gate Bridge/Alcatraz Island. We took some pics of the water and you can tell the oil is there. At the end of this cruise, the captain mentioned the oil spill, which was the first we had heard of it. After that, we went to Lombard Street via trolley. I took a movie of myself hanging off the edge and going down the hill. It was so cold! Had a great time, will post pics upon our return late tomorrow night. Great city, would love to come back.
