Default Van Halen books first 2008 show

who earlier this month announced the postponement of a planned tour stop in St. Louis Sunday night (10/28), have unveiled a make-up date for the show, and the time frame indicates that a 2008 leg of the band's successful semi-reunion outing is in the works.
St. Louis fans who were originally planning to catch last night's show at St. Louis' Scottrade Center will now have to wait until March 30, according to the venue. Tickets for the original performance will be honored at the new show. Refunds are also available at the point of purchase for fans who can't attend, and tickets freed up as a result of the postponement are on sale now.

Prior to the announcement of the St. Louis rain date, Van Halen's tour plans ended with a Dec. 30 performance in Las Vegas. The three-month gap between those two shows suggests that a full slate of 2008 dates are most likely in the works, though the group has not yet confirmed any additional 2008 roadwork. In the absence of an official announcement, a spokesperson for the group declined to comment on a potential 2008 tour.

Van Halen is in the midst of a semi-reunion tour that launched late last month and has been receiving mostly glowing remarks from reviewers and fans alike. The outing is the group's first in 22 years to feature original frontman David Lee Roth at the helm, but falls short of being a full-fledged reunion of the band's original lineup; prior to setting out on tour, the band's namesake brother duo--Alex and Eddie Van Halen--bounced founding bassist Michael Anthony in favor of Eddie's 16-year-old son, Wolfgang Van Halen.

Earlier this year, Van Halen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Anthony and former vocalist Sammy Hagar were the only two members to attend the ceremony; Eddie Van Halen was in a rehab facility at the time, while Alex and Roth chose to bow out.

Hagar, Anthony and Hagar's backing band, The Wabos, are in the midst of their own 60-date tour, which launched earlier this month and is slated to run until July of next year.

Duh. The playoffs, Arizona for the Super Bowl, out to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl, then to Florida for the Daytona 500. Everybody knows that.

Since they toured in 1984, you don't count that year. This is their first tour in the past 22 years. (1985-2007)

They toured in '84. At least I am pretty sure because I saw them in Biloxi, but then again I may have dreamed it.

The big question of this extended 2nd leg tour in my mind is not Eddie or Dave or Alex...it's Wolfie and Valerie....

In order for Wolfie to do this tour and extend into next year...he will probably be missing his entire year of school and most of all he might not want to do another 30 shows once this wraps up.

I am willing to bet the kid is damn tired from playing 2+ hours every other night for 3 months.

I know I would be and i'm 39. At 16 and probably a kid who has rarely worked in his life...this is gotta to be tough...

I might be off base on this but hey...thats what I am thinking at this very moment.

With that said though...I think they are most likely going to tour again in 2008...and it better be in SOUTH FLORIDA!

Good point, Lefty. However, maybe Val will remind him that this is the most money he'll probably ever make in his life. Except of course, until he gets control of the no doubt VERY large trust fund in his name....just kidding. You're right though, the tour schedule must be pretty brutal on the youngster.

Was'nt there a rumor that a Live album/DVD was being recorded?
Eddie could spend some time mixing it around jan, feb, then go out on tour again, with the album due for a april/may release. You never know??

A co-worker/friend of mine, who also works for Live Nation, said that they are booked for the "Dunk" in Providence R.I. sometime in mid-March. Take that for what it's worth.

I heard on the radio from the same guy here in CT that has had VH info that panned out that they are planning on releasing a live DVD and CD from this tour in February.
As far as Wolfie being tired, give me a friggin' break. No way is a 16 year old kid tired of playing guitar on stage every other night for 2 hours. If anything when they take some time off at the beginning of next year he's going to be jonesin' for the rush of being on stage and the perks that come with it.
If they do continue on to next year though they will have to come up with new merchandise since wost of what is available says TOUR 2007.
I used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass.
