Default Are any of the shows "different"

honest question, do the shows pretty much go down the exact same everynight or have they changed things up at all? I've only read a handful of reviews so cut me some slack and I'm NOT raging on them if they are the same, I'm just asking. I know they do a little jam and have changed that up a little but aside from that is there any difference?

    In a Simple Answer....Nope
One noticeable difference between Judas Priest and Metallica...
...Judas Priest only has one gay guy in the band.

From what has been said, the KC show was very different in mood and performance. Other than that, it's the same setlist, lights, etc. at every show so far.

I saw both Toronto shows....they were pretty much...the SAME.

I was kind of bummed that Dave didn't acknowledge the city at all during AT LEAST the second show.....I mean they sold out 2 shows in Toronto and they couldn't even say the city name or where they were once?

In Detroit Dave mentioned the city and in Indy because of his home town....other than those 2 things I have yet to hear any differences in the show until the KC show recently....no banter...no jam during SGMAD....shortened Unchained middle section.....no story before Ice Cream Man....

Kind of bummed out to hear all this stuff...but I'm now glad I saw them early in the tour life in 2004 before it implodes.....high hopes for the next show tonight.... .....

At Cleveland, EVH opened his solo with Happy Birthday for DLR. But every other show has pretty much followed script - save for the guitar mess up in SGMD in Conn.
I don't have a cool signature. Deal with it!

They are one-dimensional on this tour.

No changes because changes could cause tensions.

I've read others complaining that VH isn't recognizing the cities. I only went to one show thus far, Philly 10/1. Ed played a guitar(which he's selling) that said PHILLY on it. Dave mentioned how the Phillies made the playoffs and there was something else I can't remember...maybe someone else can. Not bad, the city they were playing in was mentioned.

Better than going into every city and calling IT the rock and roll capitol of the usa etc. I guess with You tube and all that bands can't do that sort of thing anymore. I remember hearing that in NJ after seeing them in Philly in the 80's and thinking..hey he said that in Philly! lol

The 2 shows in Toronto might as well have been a DVD. I swear Dave was wearing the same hats at the same times, Wolf pumped his fist while on the ramp at the exact same time, they actually went on the ramp at the same time both he and Dave. This is a VERY scripted concert...not very Van Halen in that respect. There is no feel of spontaneity and that is something that was always conveyed by Van Halen, even while sticking to the same set-list.

I completely agree...when a singer says, "We absolutely love it here in Toronto...you guys are the rock and roll capital...."...I understand that it's bullshit....

But I know every time Aerosmith comes here Steven Tyler mentions something about Toronto....2 years ago he asked, "Are we playing at Maple Leaf Gardens tonight?!?"...

Then during Joe Perry's solo spot....they had video playing of Joe walking around Toronto by the Hockey HOF and stuff like that....

I know VH doesnm't have to do the same thing but...at least saying, "Hows it going Toronto?!?"....I don't know...the shows were great so I have no complaints....

Hey in 2004 Toronto was the ONLY place where Sammy went at the beginning of the show, "HELLOOOO TORONTOOOOOOOO!!!" instead of Helllooo Babbyyyyy! That was COOL!

Well they're doing some stuff different in the songs, like they're not doing the "shoo be do wah" stuff in "I'm The One" anymore for example. Early on they were.

Maybe so, however, if anyone remembers the 84 shows, they were very scripted as well --- right down to the same time the midget came out and gave a bottle of Jack for Dave to drink.

DLR schtick is old. Im glad i saw the classics come alive but i still think his day as Van Halen's vocalist has passed.

He even uses the same banter everynight. How many fucking reviews have the same "3/4 original, 1/4 enivitable" bullshit?

And this one during interviews "the same songs you hear coming out at the drive through of a Burger King"

I mean, dont get me wrong, Classic Van Halen is the best rock band to exist, but im just not a huge DLR guy and never have been.
