Default VH - "MEAN STREET" - 10.26.2007 KC, MO.

Done by yours truly on Friday 26 October 2007 at the Sprint Center in KC, MO.

"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

    -George Carlin 1937 - 2008

Mean Street sounds like dogshit. Eddie nearly forgot the entire breakdown pre-solo, not to mention the intro.

Sounds dangerously similar to the EVH of '04. Scary.

Makes me glad they postponed St. Louis. I don't want any part of this.

I listened to one of the Chicago bootlegs, and things sounded a bit sloppy. Ed also used the "throw something at me" line again and let his guitar feed back for a chunk of his solo, and I wondered if things were headed downhill. Now after seeing this, it looks like maybe that's the case.

What the fuck? I thought it was great! Ed always ad libs a little bit live, always has. His playing is as good as it has been in atleast 10 years or so. If anything, Dave really sucks as a singer at this stage of the game. I have not seen them live on this tour yet, but IMO Dave's vocals really suck ass from the you tube videos i have seen. He sings these songs like he just doesn't give a shit. Ed seems as on top of his game as he can be, he has not played these tunes live since i was a teenager and that was a long fucking time ago!

This video kind of scared me....Ed butchered this song folks....period...the intro was terrible....the intro to the solo was completely butchered....this brought back memories of 2004 seriously.....I hope he just had trouble during this song because it sounds quite similar to the stuff he was doing in 2004.....

Edited: I didn't even read the previous posts....but I guess people share my opinion as well LOL

Damn, this sounds like one of those YouTube shreds mockery overdubs that StSanders posts. Eddie must have been either wasted or angry as hell when he played this. I don't remember anything this bad even in 2004. If you can't hear the fuckups, it's probably because you're not a guitarist or something, because there is not one full measure of this song that isn't completely hosed. Just a few weeks ago Ed was playing it just right. This was no "off night"... it's a whole lot deeper than that.

As some have started saying, this is a little scary. I can only imagine what Saint Louis would have been like last night. I'm kinda glad I got a refund now. I read the bad reviews of the show, but this is much worse than I had expected. Ed was playing pure slop.

With any alcoholic, they are always only one binge away from complete dysfunction. I don't know if Ed's getting the recovery support on this tour that he needs. We have to remember, Smoking Loon has been one of Ed's touring partners for a long time now. It's hard to break old habits, especially when faced with the very rigorous touring environment that fueled many a drunken binge in his past. We've known from the start that this tour was only one bottle of Loon away from complete disaster. Call it a conspiracy theory or whatever, I'm just looking at Ed's track record. The fact is, it sounds like a drunk played this song. This was the Ed of 2004. Addictions can be a biotch. Let's just hope Ed is making it to his A.A. meetings in each city he plays in. He's going to need some serious recovery support to keep from slipping back. It's a documented fact.

Ya, Eddie did butcher this. The intro just sounds bad as does the pre-solo. That's kind of how I sound when I try to play this, and that's not good. It's almost like he forget how to play parts of the song. I don't think he's drinking again. If anything, he is simply not practicing in between gigs to improve his chops. That's what it sounds like here. I hope this was just an isolated bad performance.

That was bad. And gets worse after the intro. wtf

This coupled with the Panama vid also posted by Vince makes me think that Ed may be hitting a real rough spot in '07 unfortunately.

sounds like more of sound issue then his actual playing. some harsh trebly feedback.

I know when I have a crap sound or tech problem, I jsut cant shake it, and I play like crap. of course, Ed gets paid a lot more than me

Ahhh Mikey...listen to the intro to the solo!...listen to the intro tapping bit....sound didn't sound great but...you can tell what's a sound issue and what's a playing issue like you said....

But I see what your saying about the tech problem affecting your playing...

I saw VH at the Mohegan Sun and 'Mean Street' sounded so much better then. I went back and listened to it just to make sure. This version from KC is very sloppy especially the intro.

Hopefully, it was only one bad night.

The big question is, can he shake a bad night, we have heard him play great this tour... so is it down hill, or one night. He almost looked like someone that is using a guitar the first time and not comfortable with it, which I could understand on the ones he is selling. but that looked like the black wolfie he has been playing all tour.
