Missing: Mike Anthony, enthusiasm, desire, sense of togetherness, playing for the sake of playing, set list diversity, the flaming gong perhaps?....do I really need to keep going?

this isn't the same band as 1984 personality wise or even personnel wise. Van Halen as it is will never come close to Van Halen as it was, not by a long shot.

1980 and 1981 VH concerts were the greatest concerts of my life, but I have abosultely zero expectation of ever re-capturing that. I am just glad that for the moment, they are making some good old fashion rock noise and hope it can last a while.
Well said. We also have no consider that no band moved around on stage like VH did in the 80's. Zeppelin or the Stones didn't and they still stand around on stage today like they did many years ago. VH had us spoiled.

"Van Halen" doesn't exist anymore. What remains are three middle aged men exploiting the work of their youth. They are selling a lie with a fat, zitty, nepotistic, slob on bass.

What the? UH! No, you're wrong. Van Halen is three VERY nice looking guys (but I tell ya, that guitar player dude.....MMMMMMMMM!!!!!!! ) that look WAY better, and in better shape than most men in their 30s, plus a really cute kid that inherited his dad's incredible gift. Thank you very freakin much!

I can't believe how bitter everyone on here is. The dudes are getting old, that's all. Oh yeah, and don't blame Dave, it's really hard for him to do the high kicks when he's wearing his cup!

Yep, bitterness inside your heart will make you a cruel person, but it's up to you, you can get over it, try to be happy, or let it eat you up. I choose to be happy and have love and kindness inside my heart.

Wonder if Dave has a hard time doing the splits with the cup on? OUCH....it truly baffles me how any guy can do splits though.........hmmmm.........

The unwritten deal was she lays on my lap and I have to give nice back scratchin'/rubbin' and I can watch the show on the big kids' TV.

I thought she was sleeping because she didn't say anything for about 30 minutes. Then she turned her head and with a very worried tone said "baby this is pretty boring. Why are they just walkin' around?" so I'm just like "well...." and she's "they aren't trying to get the crowd excited or anything."

so I kinda half defended them and explained that they were in their 50s and have had broken bones and chemo between all of em' and whatever recreational and that they were "concentrating" on playing the songs right.

    anyone else miss 1982?
What's a Depeche Mode concert like? Were they ever running around and jumping off drum risers?

Yeah, these guys look like they're a whole lot more active onstage.
