    Default Keyboard player named Ross?

In the Charlotte boot Dave distinctly says "Gimme the keyboards Ross!" during "I'll Wait".

Is Ross the backstage keyboard player, or is he on the soundboard?

Ross Valory probably took a part-time gig cueing up samples for the tour.

They do have a player with them, but we don't know how much playing he's actually doing. The keyboard guy is cuing pre-programmed sequences as well as doing some playing. He sits behind and below the stage. I'm very curious to know who it is for this tour.

He also calls him out during Everybody Wants Some, telling him to turn up the microphones. But I thought he says "Oris" or something weird name like that. I didn't think it was Ross.

I would think "ross" is the sound guy. Part of Roth's schtick has always been barking orders at the sound guy "more guitar...turn me up...etc." during the songs. I think that's a little unprofessional myself, and obviously the sound guy knew what he was doing in Charlotte. Everytime Roth made him turn something up feedback was the result.

During the 3 tour Cherone called out "JJ" to cue the keyboards.

I agree... I was listening to ...And the cradle will rock and there is really no que into the song. Ed starts the song with his guitar.

Even in the middle where Dave says "Have you seen juniors grades?" there is no hi hat que, just Ed starting it up again.

If anything, this song has live keyboards on it.

I didn't think there needed to be a queue other than Roth saying "Hit it, maestro." I don't think that's Ed starting up the song, or the part after "junior's grades." Ed can be heard playing over that. I thought that was keyboard. Didn't Ed use a Wurlitzer on the original recording?

We train dogs for cattle and sheep herding. They're very different. Sheep are a lot like supermodels - they bunch together, they rattle very easily. Cattle are like drunks at a hockey game - two will want to fight: "Who are you and what's with your badge?"

Two of them will be like: "Leave them alone, let's go see the game." Another one is lost: "Where'd you guys go?" The dog has to deal with all of that. You work them off a whistle. It's the original video game.

From my conversation with some crew guys, they definitely have a keyboardist and it is not Fitzgerald.

Yes Ed did make the intro sound on keyboard on the album but he's doing it live on guitar.

My point is, if it's a computer there would have to be a click track that Al is listening to. Then the Band would have to follow Al's que (hi hat intro).

I don't here any count offs by Al. Ed is starting the song. I "think" it's a live keyboard player.

    Default No Keyboards

At the Chicago show, the lights where out for the beginning portion of Cradle that sounds like a guitar noise. (yes, the main part is a piano through Ed's Marshalls on WACF) It was also lights out for the new addition of the scratching noise at the end. I think its part of the piped in piano.

On the record, I think that noise is the pick sliding up the strings with the tape slowed down.

It would be entirely possible for Al to be triggering these cues -- and probably the most sensible way to do it as everyone is used to Al making these sorts of calls. Once Dave yells "Have you seen Junior's grades?" Al pushes the play button.

Having a guy below stage for cues seems a lot more difficult (and expensive) than having Al do them.

Does anybody remember those first set of rehearsal pics? There was one picture of a keyboard on stands backstage.
