Default Angus calls VH "Pop" back in '84

I've just bought AC/DCs new "Plug me in" DVD, the 3 disc boxset and theres a interview with Angus and Brian before the Castle Donnington show in 1984. The interviewer claims there was a rivalry between VH and AC/DC at the time, and Angus does'nt agree, describing VH as "Pop" and AC/DC as "Rock n Roll". Theres a snippet of Dave aswell.
Its a great boxset anyway, and worth the buy, if your a AC/DC fan.

Am I ever aware of that interview, as every AC/DC fan (or anti-VH fan) in my school has made sure I am VERY well aware that Angus said that. Sorry Angus, but give Romeo Delight or Light Up The Sky a spin and get back to us....

Does it matter? It was 23 years ago. And compared to AC/DC, VH was much more radio-friendly at the time. You would never hear AC/DC do something like "Jump." I am sure that was the basis for his comment. BFD. He's right anyway. VH was more melodic vocally and musically than AC/DC ever was, hence a much more pop sound.

I say Angus has earned the right to call his band "Rock and Roll".
I don't even know what one label you could put on VH, but AC/DC is a Rock and Roll band and nothing else.

Angus is nowhere near Ed as a player, but AC/DC is a great band.

    No exactly.

DTNA, RWTD, Jamie's Cryin', Secrets, Beautiful Girls, Pretty Woman, Jump, I'll Wait, Panama...compared to AC/DC, yes they are pop.

They used to play AC/DC's music at Van Halen concerts.

And the crowd f'n LOVED it.

    Oh the drama.

Yeah gotta remember what was going on at the time since VH had released 1984 with the dreaded keyboards.

Compared with DC, yeah VH was headed in the pop direction, at least to me. The days of FW, WACF, etc. were fading, little did we know at the time.

I remember reading an article about Angus' preshow warmup with some tea. That guy is a madman on stage.
