    Hey question,

I notice you have the 5150 logo back on there without the black plate. How did you do that since the logo was originally screwed into the black plate and not the grill?

Do you beleive in magic ?

I used two very small pieces of 3M mounting squares as a temp solution until I got smaller screw, ring and bolt
and mount it to the grill.

great info. what i would love to find again is the mod to cut the 5150 combo so its basically a head and sperate cabinet. i use a 5150 head and a combo with a head selector and would love to have just 2 heads. i saw that a few years ago and kick myself all the time for not saving it.

HAHA that's what I figured. I got the grill off today, I'll be finishing it up tomorrow before practice. Hopefully it will look cool with the lights on.

I was thinking of a few more mods to do on this beast recently... one of them was adding two or one cold cathode neon (same one used in pc towers) the things don't overheat so thats great... after looking further into this some dude did it and posted it online... Next I thought red LED's behind the tubes to give it that ENGL look... dude, that would look fucking killer!!!

    THE MODS MUST GO ON!!

Here's a couple quick pics I took with the black plate removed and I put some cold cathode neons that you would buy for a computer in there as well. I left them on for an hour to see if they get hot, or get anything hot, and they didn't at all. So I feel pretty good about it. I took one pic with a flash, the one without obviously you can see the red better. Looks cool though.

Pretty easy. Oh and I played at band practice tonight with the lights on and everything for 3+ hours, and no issues at all with heat, the tubes, blah blah.

I bought the cold cathodes for a computer on Ebay for $9 or so (including shipping). You can buy other colors, I just picked red, I knew it was a safe bet to look good.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=180173122164

It has a molex 4-pin jack, because it's meant to connect to your computer's motherboard. So what I also found for $13 was this 110 AC to 12 volt DC adapter with the 4-pin molex connector. So I just connected it to that and plugged into the wall...works perfectly.
    http://www.coolerguys.com/840556029977.html

I hooked the cathodes to the top inside of my amp with velcro strips and the cables for it run to a small connector box. The connector box for the cathodes is velcro'd to the inside of my amp, you can't see it. It's easy to hide. I then ran the cables from the connector box through the back of my amp. That's it. I just plug in the adapter when I want to use it.

I can take some pics tomorrow if anyone wants them. Let me know.
