    the KID ROCK appreciation thread

Anyone besides me really dig Kid Rock? I happen to like the mix of rock/rap/country and southern rock elements in his music. He basically adds ingredients of all form of music that I enjoy.

Of course I got into him via "Bawitadaba" but I really enjoy his latest disc especially the sone "Hard Night For Sara" and "Run Off To L.A."

    Discuss.

I'm not a big fan, but this is the type of guy who will surprise you sometimes. I have seen him play with Sheryl Crow, Hank Jr, and a few others. In those situations he always seems to do better than expected. Someday he'll probably surprise the hell out of everyone and do something phenomenal; who knows?

Wow. I'm shocked by that Top Timi. I saw him a couple of summers ago with Aerosmith and he and the Twisted Brown Trucker Band were really tight. If they weren't better than Aerosmith that night then they were at least just as good.

Oh hell yeah. "Son of Detroit" is classic Kid Rock. "I like to play my Hank Williams Jr. records just as load as they will rock. I'm into Lynyrd Synyrd, Run DMC and that american pimp Kid Rock..."

I also happen to like "Feel Like Makin' Love" the least out of any song on the disc.

    from www.billboard.com:

Kid Rock Arrested On Assault Charge

Kid Rock was arrested today (Feb. 16) by Nashville police on charges that he punched a disc jockey at a strip club. The 34-year-old artist was released after posting a $3,000 bond on a charge of simple assault, a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail.

"Everything is wonderful. It was a beautiful night," Rock said as he left the Criminal Justice Center.

He had appeared a few hours earlier before Night Court Commissioner Howard Taradash. Kid Rock laughed and joked with the two officers who arrested him and two others there for the hearing as he stood in the dock -- a small room with a large glass window that separates defendants from the commissioner and observers.

Authorities said he was charged after a 3 a.m. altercation at Christie's Cabaret near downtown Nashville.

"Inside the establishment there was a squabble concerning, I guess, the selection of music," Nashville police Sgt. James Smith told reporters. "Again there are no major injuries but an assault did take place."

Television footage from outside the club showed the DJ, identified as Jay Campos, with a red mark on his face and holding his broken eyeglasses.

Arresting officer Lt. Calvin Hullett said Rock surrendered at an apartment where he had been staying. He was in town to perform at a memorial service for songwriter Merle Kilgore yesterday at Ryman Auditorium.

Hullett described Rock as "very cooperative," despite giving officers the slip earlier. Hullett said the artist left through a back door of another strip club when authorities showed up to arrest him.

When police caught up with him, Rock said he had dodged them because he wanted to sober up before being booked, Hullett said.

I used to wonder why he was grinning all the time(Michael Ian Black talkin about EVH on VH1 I love the 80's) but then i realized the reason he's grinning is because he's Eddie F*#king Van Halen

Whats so great about a guy that relies on playing 'classic" songs by other artists and then goes into his own music in concerts?

I've had the displeasure of seeing him and he would play snippets of classic skynard/VH/sabbath/metallica songs and then go into his own songs and then finish them off with the classic song he started off with.
What do you mean i dont believe in god?
    I talk to him everyday!

Kid Rock is great. I was a fan of the "Pimp of the Nation" rock in 1990, and the Early Morning Stoned Pimp back in 1995...being from Detroit it was very strange seeing him getting so big after so long on the local scene. I am not a fan at ALL of the redneck/Skynrd style stuff he does, though.

Funny thing happend tonight. We were shopping in Best Buy and there is this guy there looking at computers that looked identical to Kid Rock! The american flag converse shoes, tight jeans, hat, sun glasses and all! It was freaky! Except he is with this trailer trash looking woman with a Earnheart Jr. T-shirt on and a scraggly looking kid. Anyway, it was too funny!

I have to respectfully disagree. I think that Kid Rock is a very talented musician. I am not crazy about his rap/DJ roots. But he is exploring his influences and certainly has the respect of his fellow musicians. The last time I saw him in concert, he played EVERY, SINGLE instrument on stage at one timt or another during the show. The only other artist I have seen do that is Prince. His lifestyle and attitude will certainly draw detractors, but there is no denying his talent.

him good. His music sure isn't good. But, you know what they.... One
