    Default Interesting Youtube interview series...

I might get blasted for posting this in Main but I caught this today on youtube and had never heard it--it's from 1982 and has 8 parts...very interesting listen. Anyway, I'd never seen it referenced here so I thought I would post it. Apologies if this is old news, but, here's the link:

I think it's awesome. DD was the first tour I saw. It's interesting to reflect
back and see where Ed's head was at the time. I haven't heard a lot of
Ed interviews. Esp not that old. Dave and Al seeed to do all their radio back then. Cool.

I haven't heard this in a few years, even after searching for it. Thanks for the post!

It's obvious the frustration Eddie was having with Dave during the early 80s.

No, its the same big trouble from the warner demos, just updated to sound like the band in 82 instead of 77.

Wow, it's weird to hear Ed talk without his voice all gravelly. Also, he sounds a lot more with it. Strange since he was supposedly fucked up at the time.

This is the most fucking awesome interview ever. I'm in the middle of part six now listening to the tape of him coming up with what eventually was "Jump".

Yeah, that's a great listen. It's Jas Obrecht <sp?> from Guitar Player magazine. He did some of the first and best Ed interviews. I think I read that Jas or someone else really pissed Ed off later on in the 80's or 90's and he's not done another interview with GP since. Most interviews in the past 10 years have been exclusively from the competitor magazine, Guitar World.
We train dogs for cattle and sheep herding. They're very different. Sheep are a lot like supermodels - they bunch together, they rattle very easily. Cattle are like drunks at a hockey game - two will want to fight: "Who are you and what's with your badge?"

Two of them will be like: "Leave them alone, let's go see the game." Another one is lost: "Where'd you guys go?" The dog has to deal with all of that. You work them off a whistle. It's the original video game.

    Ed: Am I interrupting anything?
    Interviewer: Actually...yeah you are....(hangs up)

Yeah that did give me a chuckle last night. At least he did not tell Jas that if he prints what he is telling him not to print he better be wearing a cup. Ed back then sounded really mellow and cool (even though he was wasted). Nothing like the guy we know today.

I dunno. I think he sounds a lot like the Ed in the 2Dorks interviews, but he definitely is more rational here...even if he is wrong. He seems to be a little more level-headed. Also, he seems very open and not as cryptic. I think these interviews were his way of venting. A lot of stuff got let out here.
