Was that the last live appearance of the 5150 Kramer?

I love this tune, killer!!! Amoung the Best the Hagar era had to offer in my opinion. The coolest thing about all these Wabo videos is that you hear Ed playing through the Soldano and there is NO doubt that he based the original 5150 design on the SLO 100. Same ultra high gain, "fuzzy but clear", chunky huge tone! So different from his Plexi sound but so similar because the same magical hands are playing.

just watched it again and I'm starting to think it's from a soundcheck there, if you watch there's a bunch of reporters close to the stage taking pics and it's not like that on the other vids from that show....hmmmm.

I believe Ed played the 5150 Kramer on the '04 tour, albeit with a new non-Kramer neck.

somebody just started posting the vids on youtube, so far there's summer nights, AFU, CAbo Wabo and Wild thing...there's FWYS but it's just the end with Ed jamming away...all are really good quality, I think it might be MTV raw footage from the opening.

Yup. Although he only had it for the first part of the tour, and they had to ship it home after having too many problems with it. I think the original Kramer neck on that guitar is the one they took a digital scan of for the EBMM EVH guitar. I also recall a photo from a storage/guitar work room at 5150 where that neck is visibly hanging on the wall.

I only decided AFU was one of my favorite Sam-VH songs after doing some remastering work to 5150 and OU812 and putting them in my car's disc changer. With some proper EQing and compression, that tune especially kicked ass.

I guess 2004 wasn't the first time Ed wore his hair "up" like that...

I can't imagine compressing ANY of the OU812 tracks any more than they're already compressed. Wow. Perhaps I misunderstood.

I personally love the tone on that album because of the ambience created by the Eventide 949, but I admit I can *understand* why most people think it sounds like it was recorded in an underground aquarium.

Compression is the "anti-Eddie" effect. Are you sure that's what you meant? When I think of Eddie's tone prior to 1991, I think of non-flubby bass, and very little obnoxious upper-mids and harsh treble. To some, that may seem like compression, I suppose.
