Default What kind of paint to use for a 5150 replica??

I am going to build a 5150 replica. Can anyone tell me what's the best paint to use?

    Thanks in advance!

I'd buy the book if I were doing that project.

Actually this thread (along with a few others) offers some good answers, if one can be bothered to look.

Actually I disagree. An even better plan would be to take a little more time and check out this thread:

    What book might that be?

As for paint, all depends on what type of paintjob you're looking to do ... "factory" or "relic".

For a nice glossy "factory" type paintjob, I prefer 2-pak urethanes.
It cures within hours, leaves a nice shine, and doesn't crack and yellow like Nitro.

For a "relic" paintjob, spraycans should work fine.
    I'd probably recommend Duplicolor.

Have you gone the urethane or the Duplicolor route?

Great job. What brand did you use? Where did you get them? Did you use a gloss finish of some type? Any more info you can share would be greatly appreciated.

I should be getting the body from Divebomb this week and I am itching to start the painting process for my Frankie replica (so cliche I know!)....Just wondering if anybody has any wisdom they could share regarding the starting of the painting process and the relic-process afterwards.

Any help and guidance would be most helpful. I know it has been discussed to death here...but back then I wasn't planning on making a Frankie!

    Thanks.

EDIT: Any help is stil great...but I just found the EVH Replica Thread!

Any info on how to create the see through-ness of some of the stripes on the Frankie. Like most of it is opaque. but on some stripes they appear to be a little bit see through. Does anybody know how to create this? Must have something to do with the number of coats of paint?
