He's entitled to his opinion, didn't sound that crazy what he said.

For every negative opinion of the tour there is 5 positive. Remember when the critics hated Roth?

My guess is that this guy must have gotten beat up in school by some guys in Van Halen t-shirts, and this is a way to get back at them!

Bono Vox: Poetic, Political, extremely generous and just a tiny bit egomaniacal.

"“We had a lot of fun on the tour – Dave was a blast. And next time we go out, we’re going to have some new stuff, too. I’m looking forward to getting on it. I’ve got tons of music written, such a variety of stuff… Actually, next week or the week after, Wolfie, Alex, and I are gonna start jamming. Maybe we’ll give Dave a call and see what he’s up to.” - Edward Van Halen ~ 2009

We train dogs for cattle and sheep herding. They're very different. Sheep are a lot like supermodels - they bunch together, they rattle very easily. Cattle are like drunks at a hockey game - two will want to fight: "Who are you and what's with your badge?"

Two of them will be like: "Leave them alone, let's go see the game." Another one is lost: "Where'd you guys go?" The dog has to deal with all of that. You work them off a whistle. It's the original video game.

It's really not that dramatic of a ripping. But this part hit a note with me:

Short-haired relative to the flowing locks of his glory years, the 53-year-old Roth was more tentative and less kinetic than the memories he was trying to evoke, almost asking for the crowd's approval where once he would have commanded it as he battered the lyric of "Somebody Get me a Doctor."

He wrote of it as a negative, but I think this is where Roth and VH deserve some credit; they're being very smart about NOT hitting the stage as cocky assholes, thinking they deserve praise like it's 1984 again. With the stormy past VH and Roth have had, they KNOW they need to get out there and exercise some humility. I think they've done a good job of that so far.

I agree Andrew. There is much to gained by a posture of being humble, as it gives off a genuine vibe of sincerity.

Look, for all we know this person normally does restaurant reviews (his byline reads "Special to the Courant", after all) and as such was somewhat out of his element.

The guy did note that the show was built on energy and not gimmicks. Reading between the lines, it's doubtful this fellow had a good time. And this could have been due to something having absolutely nothing to do with the band.

Notice that for every positive media review--of which there have been dozens--the reviews were posted within the review thread for that city.

For one lukewarm review, Guitar5150 felt the need to start an entire thread.

    Pretty pathetic.

Well, I think he was mad about the crappy merchandise selection.
