    Default Break up Advice

    Hi.

    I hate treading this.

I need some advise. I do understand sooner is better than later.

I am in a relationship and currently live with my GF (girlfriend). We live together.
For me, the relationship is pretty much run its course. I can't say it's one particular thing that lead me to this point, its more a combo of things. To me they are important, to others may be frivolous.

I suppose my question is more of a request for support. It's not an easy thing to do in any relationship. This may be a "going nowhere" type of first post for this thread, but I'm messed up over the whole thing.

If you are genuine and would like to talk a bit then PM me or something like that. I won't post anything too specific here.

I hope this all makes sense...

well, w/o getting into pm'ing and all that, if you feel really strongly that this isn't the person that you want to stay with, be fair and don't string them along... don't resort to cliche lines that you think she would want to hear either... it's best to just be honest...

Honesty and courage. Break ups hurt, no getting around that. Prolonging the inevitable is worse. Be honest with her and yourself.

Next time, try,"It's not me, it's you." She'll be so caught up in the fact that you're breaking up, she won't even notice.

Seriously, just be direct and don't say anything that isn't true: there's a chance we could get back together, I'm gay (not that there's anything wrong w/that), etc. Good luck.

You said yourself it's run it's course for you, so get on with it, my friend. You'll be so much happier when you're finally out of it that it's worth the difficulty in getting out of it. A month from now you'll be wondering why it took you so long to break it off.

I'd have some good advice for you, but the living together thing makes it 10x more difficult. It's not like you can break up and go back to your house.

In the old days (yes, this is a chicken-sh*t thing to do...I know), if I knew I couldn't stand the girl anymore, I'd make her hate me more. Then, she'd want to break up with me.......making it easier to get rid of her.

I broke up with one girl who couldn't take no for an answer. She actually went into denial and still acted as though we were together. So, I stopped talking to her completely and acted as though she didn't exist. Years later, she started going to my church!!!

In your situation, you can't play games. Since you live together, you need to make it as fast as possible. Don't be soft. Don't try to save her feelings. She do it and get it over with. However, make sure you have another place to live before you do it! I'd offer you a room, but I'm sure you don't want to sleep in my son's bunk bed

    Lol.....yeah, all three of them.

K, dude, just tell it like it is. Remember to be respectful of her feelings. She'll be hurt enough....best to keep the little details to yourself instead of hurting her any worse than you have to.

Yes, be respectful but you may not be able to get away without telling her exactly what went wrong. Even though it may hurt her, she deserves the truth if at one time you were in love with her. (Unless she is going to go psycho on you and that is one of the reasons you are wanting to break things off then you may rethink this entirely).

OK, since I have your attention, I'll start with you; I'm sorry, Kimmie, for saying "it's not you it's me." It was the wrong thing to say and apparently it's kind of disrespectful or something. Obviously by your post, you're still a little bitter about it.
