    Default Tony Gwynn

Did anyone see when they went to the booth tonight with the cameras in the ALDS? Tony Gwynn is morbidly obese !!!! He is by far the fattest former major leaguer i have ever seen, he is not that far removed from the game.

It really is sad to see one of the games greatest hitters in such bad shape.

the guy was never a svelte player to begin with, but he was still a great hitter... certainly playing helped to keep some of his weight down, but i'm not all that surprised by how he looks today... and even though i wasn't a fan of his team, i always liked this guy - great attitude and a real student of the game... he should probably try to slim down for his own health, but i wouldn't slag the guy...

I've always respected Tony as a hitter. The guys was always great. I felt bad seeing him that out of shape. I was quickly snapped back in to pure joy though watching the Yankees fuck up.

Lay the fuck off of Tony and his weight. He's struggled with it his entire career and despite that, was the greatest pure hitter in the game. Ted Williams said this himself. Oh yeah, and he's in the Hall of Fame with a lifetime batting average of .338 and over 3000 hits. But he's fat...ok what have you done lately?

    And yes, fuck the Yankees!

Hard to believe that he played college basketball and once stole 50+ bases in the majors.

You don't like the voice of Gary Coleman calling the games?

Yeah, Tony was never a small guy, but he has put on a couple pounds since retiring. He can probably still hit .300 though.

That's funny how somebody mentioned Tony's voice. This is going to sound racist, even though I don't mean it to be. Tony sounds like the whitest white guy I've ever heard. Every time I hear him speak I burst out laughing. It reminds me of Eddie Murphy doing his white guy impression in his Raw stand up movie.

Lighten up Francis! He was a great hitter, and now he is a fat ass. That is all people are saying. By the way, what has who done lately? I drank coffee, took a shit, went to work, came home, jerked off, and had a beer.... and I'm getting ready to have another. Thanks for asking..............

Amen to that! Used to love watching him play. I remember how excited I was when he got his 3,000th hit against the Expos.

So I won't complain about his weight, he's always been a heavy guy. I doubt the ones who do mess with his weight could have a batting average above .300 nearly every season in a 20+ year MLB career.

I will admit, I while it is nice seeing him again, it's difficult to tolerate his voice in the booth. He knows his shit, as any Hall of Famer would, but just does not have a good voice for broadcasting.

I am seriously surprised he isn't a hitting coach in the Padres organization...
