Default Too sterile? Where are the banners???

okay, in viewing all the videos and pics, although they look and sound great, the vibe seems very sterile. Where are all the banners and signs??? The whole thing seems very tiddy and clean.

I am amazed i have not seen "the return of the kings" , "where is mikey?", "eddie we love your shoes". But nothing!!!

I think the last banner I saw was in 1987:

    "I can't hear you, I'm a Def Leppard."
    LAME.

Signs and banners as a whole are pretty damn silly.

I saw a great "Tora Tora!" banner being carried in by two young kids in Greensboro that were dressed in vintage '78 gear, to include wigs. Saw a couple "Sammy Who?" and "It ain't Vh without MA" shirts, but other than that, nothing serious...

A few week back someone started a banner thread, it went like this.

Fan 1 -Who is bringing a banner? I am going to bring a big banner.
Fan 2 - Banners are dumb!! Why would you want to block everyones view behind you?
Fan 3 - I will kick the ass of anyone that is blocking my view with a stupid banner.
OLO - What is the point of bringing a banner? Do you expect to become part of the show? They cant really read anything that far out, all you are doing is blocking views.
Fan 4 - Banners are dumb, I am not 16 anymore.

    etc etc etc.
    ((Just My Two Cents))
And thats about what its worth.

The point is that you throw your banner up on stage, and the band gets to do what they want with it. Haven't you people ever seen LWAN?

I think you're not seein any signs cause the crowd is old/smart enuff
to know that no one paid good $$ to have their view obstructed.
And also sentient enough to know banners are gay. Or a chick thing.
And let's face it, I still think they're cute but they're not exactly
chick food these days. Therefore, banner placement: down.
Hey they said to judge it harshly.
    Oh wait. Sorry dude...

I mentioned this in the G'boro review thread- The show was very good but it was more of a Van Halen Family Night than a Van Halen concert. Which is fine because everyone has gotten older, and people feel it is neccessary to drag their 12 yo kids to the show.

The difference between G'boro 07 and 1984 in Reynolds Collisium at NC State University is night and day. After 1984 they banned concerts from Reynolds for about 15 years due to the rowdy crowds.

I don't really understand making a big sign and holding it up on the floor...if it's a tiny thing that the band will be able to see but not big enough so that it obstructs others viewing pleasure than fine I understand that.....

but this kid 2 rows infront of me had this sign and during YRGM he was holding it up every time Ed came to the mic...I'm glad he stopped after that song because I think he realized that....HE WAS BLOCKING OTHER PEOPLE'S FUCKING VIEW!....I mean your in the first 5 rows...take pictures or bring a hat you can maybe get them to wear (like my cowboy hat that is striped that the band didn't give 2 shits about )...but a sign that says..."We Love You Van Halen!"....You might as well hold up a piece of paper saying how much you paid for your ticket and then you'll get noticed by the band...that should get their attention...and that will show them how much you love them....
