Default For Those Who've Never Heard "That's Why I Love You"...

    Here's a bootleg-type vid featuring the song:

    Van Halen - That's Why I Love You (4:14)
"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."
    George Bernard Shaw

I think this song had the potential to be a cross-over hit. Too bad it didn't make it onto VH III and get released as a single.

Honestly, I have always liked that song and you really have to wonder if they would have included it on the III album and released it right after "Without You", things may have worked out better with the reception of that album. It would have sold more than 500,000 copies that is for sure.

They made some mistakes back in 1998 and leaving this song off the album and adding "Josephina" in it's place was fatal - not to mention "How Many Say I".

I felt really bad for the boys back then. I think they were misguided by their management OR they were not listening to their management. Too stubborned I guess.

It's an OK tune, I don't care for the melody/chorus/his voice here. Very uninspiring. I never liked the watered down sound of Ed's guitar after 1984, each year it got more and more pronounced. I'm not saying it's bad, just not my thing. I'm stoked that the brown sound is back.

Its a decent tune, should have been on there over how many say i. However I think the song is too much like, "can't stop loving you." I don't think that one song would have any more albums. The general public was not into a new lead singer for Van Halen.

if only this was on III in place of How Many Say I and released as a single it could have saved them from warner bros. hell and a 2nd record would have come out from this lineup.

people were not accepting a 3rd singer back then no matter what, and i think that this would've still been a lost gem that didn't get much attention even it it were released back then...

Yeah, I've always thought this was an OK tune, and certainly worthy of a spot on "3." But I don't think it would've changed much for the band back then. People just weren't having it.

Pretty nice tune. It seems like there at least 4 or 5 songs off VH3 they could have replaced with this song. Catchy tune and radio friendly. Would have been a nice follow-up to Without You.

Eh, I don't like it. I'm going with wingnut on this one. The guitar tone sucks and Gary's voice sounds like nails on chalkboard. Also, the song structure is strange, leaving the listener to guess what's coming rather than expecting it. It's sad, because these guys clearly had the best of intentions, but there just wasn't any chemistry.

I really like this song and as stated prior should have been on 3.....if i recall correctly this was the tune that got the chop for 'josephina'. I honestly think that this song live would have been great.
