    Default 2004. A few words?

This will seem strange cause I travelled to the USA to see VH in 2004. I saw them at St. Louis and Chicago. On those nights, it was a thrill, just to see Hagar back in the band. Performance wise, it was good, but not, by any means, the best I've ever seen. I thought they could've done better, BUT!!! BUT!!!
......till recently, I've got some new bootleg DVDs from the tour. I've got St. Louis, Mineapolis and sacremento. What I've noticed the most is the stage seems to small especially where the big VH is stamped on the stage floor, and what bugs me more is that Sammy, Eddie and Mike are too close together throughout the shows, and they dont branch out more like their other tours mobility wise.
But I do agree.......just by watching these shows that Eddies playing was way off......but I think its also cause of how low his guitar is, hes sloppy as ever. The opening to "Runaround" is way off.....it sounds like a accoustic and "Humans being" is a mess throughout. In hindsight, I think the 2004 tour was the least best of the Hagar period. Its not a patch on the "F.U.C.K" Tour.

I agree the stage was too small. From the bootlegs I've seen, on some nights the band was good, on some nights not. Well, on some nights Eddie fucked up the whole show. The rest of the band was always good.

Yeah, those guys were tripping over each other. Stage was a nice idea, just too small. Which St louis show do you have? First or 2nd night?

I'm pretty sure only the second night's show exists on boot.

Damn, I was at the first show. 2nd row dead center. Would love to get my hands on that show.

As other have said about the stage: cool idea, but the players were a little lost and consolidated in it.

***Where'd you get the Minneapolis (actually St. Paul) boot??? I want it!*** That's the first of two shows I was at. (Ed was WAY drunk.)

I too travelled over and saw a few shows, but I thought the stage was pretty cool. However, it may have been the reason tensions in the band were at 'red level'! Maybe they should have had Eddie on his own stage surrounded by a 'ring' of fans, to keep him away from S and M with only a ramp leading up to big al and his loon supplies.
Its funny now a few years down the track. From the very first time I saw the greensborough boot (about a week after that first date), and saw how Mike and Sam enter and leave one side, Al and Ed leave the other, I knew it was all bullshit that things were cool and that the only time they were 'together' was for the 2.5 hours a night.
However from the shows I saw, and the 15 plus boots i have of the 04 tour, S and M were the MVPs that season. Even Al was less adventurous and played straight, as Ed was that wasted he wouldnt have known where he was, should Al step out a bit. Cut to 07, and Al is going fo it, not to mention EVH.

the stage was wicked what is wrong with you people?! the tour before this was in 1998 with the real stripped down with gary that barely had anything on it except for a small ass drum riser and a painted 8 ball on the stage. same with 1995 it was stripped down as well.

the 2004 stage blows away every stage show they have done thus far (minus the stacks and stacks of lights and amps in 1981-1983) seeing them tonight so the 2007 stage we shall see....

I really liked the lack of stuff on the '98 stage. Ed had three cabs--which is all that he actually uses. I'm not into the big dummy amps thing like what they've got going right now (or on the FUCK tour).

The shows were bad when Ed was bad, which was 80% of the time. Everyone else was fine.

2004 was quite painful to watch and listen to.

Also, not that I ever want to judge on hair, but that weird hair thing Ed was doing was really . . . I can't find the words.

The '04 stage may not have been the greatest but it beat the hell out of that VH3 stage. I couldn't believe a major act like VH could have such a low budget, crappy stage.

I was at both nights in stlouis and I gotta agree that Ed was mostly off on both shows. Mike and Al were great as was Sam except for the annoying signing going on all show long. I saw the 2nd night boot and it's pretty cool to look back and it and see that it wasn't as bad as 1st thought, but still Ed could have played much better. I did notice Ed did his signature jump on the small rampway 2 times during Jump and I thought he was gonna fall in the crowd. Stage sucked..way too small and confined, it led to forced interaction between Sam and Ed that seemed so fake. I like the stage on this tour much better, very roomy, Wolf just needs to start using the space a little more.
