Default Montrose (Not really Sam linked as such)...

I was listening to the "Jump On It" album this morning on my drive into work, been quite a few years since I last played it to be honest, but it does have some cracking tunes on. Just wondering though, the singer that took over from Sam - Bob James, whatever became of him after Montrose? I had a bit search around online and think he was briefly in another band that flopped, but is he still recording/performing?

After that came Gamma and instant obscurity. I could find absolutely nothing regarding Bob James either, other than the myspace thing. And if the photo featured there is a recent picture of the guy, then I'm Bob Newhart.

I wonder what the delay is with the forthcoming Ronnie Montose album 10X10. The album is to have a different singer on each song, Sammy recorded a vocal for one track.

I thought the album would be out by now...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

Yeah, and Paul Stanley has a track on it too. I hope it gets released.

I know that Johnny Edwards fronted Montrose too for a while. He was with Foreigner on the "Unusual heat" album, I did'nt mind that.

Finally, a clip of the Gene Pitney tune "Town Without Pity", from the superb 1978 Ronnie Montrose instrumental album "Open Fire". Yeah, the fact that it promotes the CW's "Supernatural" is sort of lame, yet the chance to turn others onto exactly how cool this sadly forgotten track (still) is, quite simply is too much to pass up.

    Enjoy.

Ran across this remarkably clear video from 1974. Apologies if posted elsewhere, yet the clarity is startling for such an old clip.

The sound quality is quite good as well, yet only hints as to how powerful this band was. Enjoy.

You can run across that Bad Motor Scooter anytime you want on your Long Road to Cabo DVD. It's in the Sammy Hagar video collection chapter.

    And, yes, it is badass.

That would be swell if I still owned a copy. I honestly only had it for a short time and traded it.

I like Sam solo, but I was never a huge fan of Montrose. I know that they are all very talented and I can appreciate that it is "good" music, I just don't really like it.

    Can't explain it.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Okay then. I extend an offer to view it in my copy anytime your in the greater Boston area.

I love watching the beginning of the I Can't Drive 55 video. You've got his band mates prentending to work on the car. It's just as poorly fabricated as The Wiggles "play" instruments.
