I think we can all pretty much thank him for pulling this whole thing together. Without him there would be NO Van Halen I am pretty sure of that.

The kid wanted old school rock & roll! Amazing opportunity!

He did do a pretty admirable job. He looked relieved near the end of the set tonight, but not too nervous during the show.

    It was a good achievement.

Ha. I'm glad you mentioned that. Before RWTD, the lights were back down. Then several red lights were aimed on the upper part of the stage, on stage left (Eddie's side, obviously Wolfie spends most of the show on stage right). A bunch of red beams beamed at Wolfie, and he held out his bass and then started hammering out the intro. Then the rest of the lights came up.

It was actually very cool. They made sure to have a couple of parts where Wolf did cool stuff. During 'Cradle', he asked Dave, "Dave, can you give a break to whoever you're talking to?" before the "One break" line. It was pretty funny.

Also of note is how much Wolf gets along with Dave, which may a big part of the reason Mike was forced out. Wolf gave Dave a hug while they were waiting for the drum solo to start.

When I was 16 82' I played a gig for a teen event, it was my/our first musical job, it was maybe 60 people and I almost puked I was so nervous! Everyone was pretty stiff at first. Playing a few songs helped a lot and always does but I was statue nervous! With experience you get over that level of fear but I can't help but give up some major respect to Wolfgang Van Halen for what he is doing! At 16 Wolf is standing on an arena's stage with people he calls family but we call legends and he is holding his own. So far he's not truly fucking up or totally out of his league to where it's strikingly noticeable. A lot of pressure is on him to do well and not be a joke. His father's blood beats through his heart and father and son are ripping it up together. Ed is such an amazing guitarist/composer/musician despite any negatives with Mike or whomever, this is a beautiful thing to see imo. Powerful and positive. A wonderful time in VH's history I hope people see the big picture and enjoy what's going on.

If I'd say that I knew that Wolfie would pull this off right then I would have lied. But I hoped for it. To all the Critics.

Missing Mikey's absolutely fine. I miss him too.

    Default Way to Go!

Glad to hear that people are coming around on this. I don't know what all the friggin fuss was about in the first place. This isn't just any 16 year old kid that we're talking about! The kid GREW UP with Eddie Van Halen!!

At any rate, WHY are people concerned with how he does Runnin With The Devil? There's like ONE QUARTER NOTE played through the first few measures, sheesh. I'm sure anyone picking up a bass for the first time can figure it out. From what I can tell in the rehearsal shows he plays even the complicated stuff without much difficulty!

At any rate, I'm glad to hear that Wolfie's finally getting his props...

From what I've been reading, the kid did well. One week to go for me and I'll be able to see for myself.
