    Default Wolfie's Solo

So, what do you think his bass solo will be like?
(No bashing please. What do you really think?)

My impression from everything that I've seen and heard was that there would not be a bass solo.

I dont think he will have one in the traditional terms... based on set list we have seen.

I think when ED answered yes at the PR, he meant more in the sense that he will have added parts like we have seen in Romeo Delight etc...

I wouldn't expect a Wolf solo...not yet at least. Let him get past the point of proving himself, and then maybe they'll work something into the set.

Based on the Youtube rehearsal videos, Wolfie looks terribly uncomfortable and awkward on stage. He barely moves. I'm not trying to bag on the kid, but I'm wondering if he is ready for this. This is like playing flag football in the park with your friends one day, and the next playing on Monday Night Football for the New England Patriots.

I would crap myself if I ever had to do my job in front of 13,000 people.

That said, I don't like bass solos. Didn't like MA's that much either. I think bass solos work best when thye are part of a jam (ie Rudy Starzo on Godzilla for Blue Oyster Cult). I think that the idea of an extended solo as part of a song or a jam would be a great way to introduce him to the rock world.
I don't have a cool signature. Deal with it!

There is no need for a drum or a bass solo, i'd even say get rid of ed's solo as well. I wish the band would do some jamming the way they did up until the 5150 tour.

The closest to a bass solo you'll hear is the open low E "bomp bomp bomp" opening to RWTD.
What once upon a time made Van Halen unique in the progression of metal and hard rock (besides Eddie’s prowess as a guitarist) was its sense of fun, its willingness to be not just over the top, but weird.

I agree. We all know the Eruption/Cathedral/Spanish Fly parts anyway and there's nothing like a cohesive unit to tie it all together. Nothing like a 3-piece playing off one another.

If anything it will be a jam. Maybe something like how the band did Girl Gone Bad in 83. Who knows, they (the Van Halens) may have a song that has a busy bass line.

I thought of the "jam" possibility.
Could be cool to hear him and Ed play off each other for a couple minutes.
