    Default Tour not selling well?

Most shows are on sale and most shows arent sold out. Sure Van Halen is playing well but will this tour be a bust? I hope not. If the reviews from the fans are good early I think it will be a succsses( did I spell that right?) but if the reviews are bad like in 04 then this could be a bust. I think the pressure is on Eddie to deliver his best shows since the early days. What do you think?

I find it funny that they keep claiming the tour is "selling out", but it seems to me the only things selling out are the VIP packages.
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

I think it's doing pretty well...not as amazing as some claim, not as bad as some claim either.

Well I guess it depends on which market your in...

In Detroit I called for tickets to the palace of auburn hills show (October 22nd) but the tickets flew in 2 days and if you want some for that show be ready to sit behind stage. They added a 2nd date for Detroit at the Joe Louis Arena (October 20th) I managed to get some good seats for this but now they are only selling seats behind stage as well.

They did the same thing in 04. I could never figure out why they would tear down and move 10 miles down the road instead of just booking a second night at the Palace

The bulk if not all the shows will be on sale before the 1st show. Perhaps, the powers that be are betting that early good reviews will translate into momentum for sales. Also, some bigger markets (NY, LA, SF) have yet to go on sale and will probably sell out. I think this is whats to be expected given the present perception of VH by the general public. I'm sure VH will make a good chunk of change.

Good point. I looked at several venues and what is left is very limited. Maybe one tik here or there or poor views.

One advantage that VH has this time around is the benefit of hindsight. The 2004 tour sold very well in most places but truly bombed in a few others. This time around they'll be able to skip those cities and focus on the places they did well in. For instance, in Fargo the attendance was less than 5,000 and the promoter lost his shirt(about $250,000). This time around, I'm sure Fargo won't be part of the tour.

If VH chooses to play places like Fargo and others that bombed in 2004, then you'll know that everybody has extreme confidence in this tour and you can really make some comparisons.

Otherwise, you're probably comparing places that sold 13,000 tickets one time around to 14,000 the other.

i dont think ANY shows really sell out anymore unless they are artists who atract the teenybopper crowd, like Justin TImberlake....Genesis just played 3 nights in philly and you could get decent seats through comcast tix the day of the shows... I went to see heaven and hell back in May and last week and they werent sold out...the Police had plenty of seats still available...

i think that with the exorbitant cost of tickets, people really have better things to do with their money..i remember back in the day when shows were 20 bucks, friends in high school used to go to ALL of them, regardless of who the bands were, it was just cool to do so...who could afford that NOW?
Well ain't life grand when you finally hit it, I'm always a sucker for a real good time, woke up in life to find i almost missed it,aint I glad that love is blind

You hit the nail on the head with that post. People have to really want to go to a show (any show) to plunk down the kind of cash to see anybody now. It used to be you could just plan on going to all the shows you wanted to go to. Now most have to pick and choose based on finances.

    Correct.
