I read those reviews earlier today on VHND. I wonder which members of Rage Against the Machine were there.

I heard Tom Morello is a fan of VH.

During the breakdown of "Romeo," Wolf pulled out a pretty sweet piece where he played the tapping intro on his bass... that kid smokes. I'm so pleasantly surprised. He was tight with Alex throughout the whole show and complements Eddie the whole time, filling in some pretty sweet notes while Ed solos and everything. While I'll be a Michael Anthony fan for life, I gotta hand it to the kid. He was awesome.
    'Atta boy Wolfie!!

"Little Dreamer," while it was performed well, was painfully out of key at times. Any thoughts that the band is using any backing track vocals are silenced by seeing something like that.
Can we put the "piped in vox" theory to rest yet?
Wolfgang did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

How come all these reviews start out as "I am a HUGE Van Halen fan". So right there, these are not gonna be a fair tale of the performance.

I've watched those video's with my eyes closed and just listened. Something is missing....

    Wonder what that could be.

I noticed "Secrets" is apparently gone. I'm real curious to see if they mix the set list up a little deeper into the tour. You have to imagine that they have rehearsed other tunes that did'nt show up in this setlist.

I was really hoping to hear "Hear About it Later" and maybe "DOA", Oh well, I'll be happy with what we are getting, it's been a long time.

That's a lame assessment. There are plenty of people here who are HUGE Van Halen fans (I presume that includes you too) that don't particularly like the current output. People see things how they see them, and I for one think they sound great. They'd be better with Mike, I think, but it has been a while since I've seen them sound this good.

We'll see where consensus lies after the tour, but I find it grossly unfair to say that you opinion is de facto tainted if you call yourself a huge fan.

Good point. Remember they said they had been rehearsing 25 songs and this list is 22. I'm sure there are a couple of songs that will be swapped in and out every night just to shake things up a tad.

I "hear ya" now on Hear About it Later . I freakin' love that tune.

Still, all in all, I think it is an excellent set list that gives the causal fans the hits, while giving the die hards some tasty morsals to digest. I can't wait to hear I'm the One!

My point is this: I am not spending a DIME on this band, until I hear reviews from casual, unbiased opinions. After spending A LOT in 04, to hear the drunk say "thanks for paying my rent".

Yeah, the # 3 song I want to hear is DOA. But they can't pull it off without Mike and they know it..that's why it's not in the setlist

Same here, I'm a die hard fan and I thought Ed played like shit in San Jose and played pretty well in Oakland. Overall, the tour produced more San Jose nights than Oakland nights and most of the reports came from die hards like you and me.

Dave performed DOA in 2002 on the Sam/Dave tour and it sounded pretty good.

Judging by the set list, they aren't omitting any "Mike" songs, it's simply the greatest hits plus the rest of VH1.

Since DOA happens to be about my favorite VH song, it is disappointing that it's being left out while tripe like Pretty Woman and I'll Wait is being played.

25 songs might be too good to be true anyway, we may be lucky to get 20 the way I figure, but so far Im Impressed!!
