    Default Big Al's Drum Solo

I noticed while reading "SpiderDan13"s review on www.vhnd.com that he writes, "Everything wasn't perfect, though. Alex's 8-minute drum solo was about 7 minutes too long." Now he didnt elaborate, and it's not like I'm really gonna base a whole lot on this guy's review, but why do you think he has this opinion? Was his solo not that good? Is it basically the same thing that we've heard for 10+ years now (or however long), so he's making the point that it's getting old? What do you guys think?
If it sounds like bull shit, feels like bull shit, and appears to be bull shit, it's probably Eddie talking about his new lead singer being his new brother at a press conference...

Im sure the guitar solo will be the same riffs as the past 20 yrs as well.
You would think they could add in a FEW new sections to it.
I wonder how many guitar players or drummers on here have not already memorized /mastered the pieces note for note ?

Sounds like he doesn't like drum solos. I'm not particularly fond to them myself...eight minutes is a long time for Ruprecht to be banging his pots together. And, just to be fair and biased, as much as I'm awed by Ed's playing, I've reached the age where I'd much rather hear a tune than listen to a solo.

More proof that Spinal Tap was pure genius!!

Yeah, I'd have to say I agree as well. If it was a circa-1986 drum solo, that might be a little different, or if they (Ed/Al) were to come up with a new solo or something, maybe, but I'd much rather them play a couple of extra songs during that 8-10 minutes. But i guess maybe part of the reason they have these drum/guitar solos is to give the lead singer a rest.

Whatever you are doing right now isn't as important as watching Spinal Tap. It should be required viewing for any "fan" of any rock and roll band. Things just make so much more sense after watching the movie. I can't recommend it enough.

While I think Al is an incredible drummer, his solo is as useful to me as Eages Fly or Mike's bass solo. Great time to take a leak.

Spinal Tap though is great. When watching it you have to remember that a lot of it is improvised.

Unless Al comes up with something new for his solo I would rather hear more songs or even a Jam with Ed and Wolfie for the 8-10 minutes. On the other hand it is a good time o go get another beer and take a leak.
I used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass.
