If the tour finishes ok (I think it will), I expect a live CD/DVD. Thoughts?

i almost spit my diet mountain dew all over the screen!!!! Yeah they'll get right on the live dvd of this tour, right after they find the key to the vault of all the goodies each member has been talking about for 30 years.

I don't want to turn this into a cvh vs. vhagar, but Sammy atleast realizes how easy it is to package up a dvd and put it out there.

Also, if they do a live dvd, can they this time really make it live. RHRN was great and all, however it was so freaking polished, that they clearly went into the studio and worked on some of the music.

    Default WHY NOT ???

Well...this band loves to leave people hanging. That's why we're not likely to see a DVD or any of the live vintage stuff released. But, they did reunite with Dave...So anything's possible right ?????

Although I expect the tour to last through the entire run of dates they'll book, I'd be floored if the band does or releases anything for at least a couple years after the tour.

In this day and age, where the live CD/ DVD after the tour, or at the start of the next tour is a mandatory moneymaker for everyone involved, well, it still blows me away that in 2004, nobody in VH land thought to push "record".
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

It was my understanding that the tour was thrown together pretty quicky and there simply wasn't time to put a DVD together. Also the possibility that thier was not enough acceptable material to put out a DVD.

I wouldn't be surprised, if for no other reason than it would be the easiest way for Ed to get a product featuring Wolfie into the marketplace.

VH could have been releasing DVD after DVD of stuff these past dormant years--live shows and otherwise. Lots of bands do it, and fans love it and buy it. There could also been club days recordings and rarities and left-overs remixed and remastered for CD. But, again, nodda.

    That's VH.

I'm just guessing here, but I wouldn't be surprised if the fact the band haven't had a record deal since the '04 tour is a major reason for no live dvd release(s). I think the ego of the brothers dictates they don't feel they should "lower" themselves to doing a one-off release with someone like Instant Live like a band such as The Cult has done.

Record companies often tell a band what to do. EVH doesn't like people telling him what to do anymore.

Not sure if they are still under a contract, but can't they privately market their stuff like Prince/"symbol" did for a while ? They should have enough fan base/connections to not need a record company selling their music & be succesful doing it.

yeah your right, I know I was there both nights. Those shows were incredible! The only thing really that was untouched on the video was the solos. In fact Eddie did a way better solo the second night and thats the one they cut out couldnt beleive it!

I would be pleasantly surprised if they put out a live CD/DVD but I'm not expecting it.

Ya, they'll release a DVD. It'll be out just in time for Christmas.

The DVD will include lots of hidden pictures of 5150 (which will be renamed to the Wolf den), love fests between Dave and Ed, a version of the Youtube "press conference" and lots of hype about how great the sales of the tickets for the tour are.

It'll be a waste of time.

As for a new cd. Whatever.
