Default Anyone notice no back to back shows?

Was hoping they could add a show up here, and while looking at the dates it dawned on me that they have NO back to backs scheduled at all (or at least that I can see). They stick to every other night, except a few places with longer breaks. Even the rumored added show in CT fits the pattern with the rumor having it on October 5.

Concession to Ed's drinking, or to Dave's voice?

Or perhaps high hopes that the first night will sell out, hastening demand for a second?

Did they have two right off the bat for Philly and Toronto? Even those second shows fit that pattern.

And by Ed's drinking, I meant his drinking problem, allowing rest to keep from over-taxing him...

i think the no back-to-back is for a number of reasons including Dave's voice. Add in the fact that it's Wolfie's first tour and Ed being lets say fragile and I can see why a more spaced out tour makes some sense.

i think it's 2 very simple things, scheduling and the band.

they probably prefer not to do 2 nights in a row and scheduling that time of year back east with hockey, basketball, the circus, disney on ice, other concerts, and whatever is a pain in the ass. i'm sure a lot of things were booked before vh was. makes it harder to do back to back nites.

prolly has to do with a lot of what people already have said. Also consider the pacing of most of the early VH material. It will take a toll on you and these guys arent 23 years old anymore. It prolly takes it out of them while practicing so it would be wise to space out the dates so that they arent fatigued 3 weeks into the tour, which means short fuses with people, and that is assuming Eddie has a fuse anymore, age, drinking, voices/musicial abilities all prolly play into no back to back dates...

Pehaps logistics and cost as well. Many bigger tours with tighter schedules have two road crews with one to set up at the next venue while the show is at the previous stop. Perhaps they are opting for one crew/stage set up. Or, they are hoping for more consecutive nights per venue than what demand has dictated thus far.

I do find it curious that they haven't anounced any more on-sale dates as of yet. Perhaps in the next day or so but, as a prospective attendee to the Indy show, I'm getting just a tad antsy.

Did you try calling the venue to find out when they go on sale?

That's what i did for the KC show.

I think it has something to do with child labor laws.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Q: who was the biggest douche that you have worked with?

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

I hear you on the scheduling, but I just don't think you'd see scheduling conflicts being so tidy, you know? If it was scheduling, I'd think you'd see a few back to backs in different cities with multiple days off in between, more chaos in the schedule, so to speak. THIS schedule is remarkably consistent, every other freakin day. I mean, I've seen tours where the band is in Boston one day, and somewhere like Philly the next day, not very close at all.

I'd guess health, both weary old bones and voices.

agreed. If they wanted to play back to back in Toronto the venue was available (Oct 7th and 8th). It would appear their insistence on not playing back to back moved the 2nd show back a few days to the 12th.
