Default Anchorwoman cancelled after only 1 episode airing.

It is rare for a television network to cancel a new show after only 1 airing but it happened this week.

FOX announced Wednesday that "Anchorwoman" - the new show starring former WWE Diva and Barker's Beauty Lauren Jones - had been pulled from its schedule after only one airing.

The TV rating for the show's first and only episode was only one third of the viewership Fox attracted a week earlier with the finale of its popular "So You Think You Can Dance." Anchorwoman was was panned by the majority of critics and debuted to a mere 2.0 rating Wednesday night. It scored just 2.7 million viewers with a 1.0 in the coveted 18-49 demographic.

not that i'm comparing this show to it, but it's a good thing "cheers" didn't come out as a new show in this day and age... it was pretty much in the ratings basement until it found its audience after several weeks (maybe more?)... but i think this is more indicative of: short-term oriented tv execs and people being tired of "reality" unreality shows...

Well...it's FOX. Not the sharpest tools in the shed by far. The upside of FOX is that they'll give any concept a shot : Married With Children, X-Files, House, In Living Color, Prison Break and 24 are all pretty radical shows by normal network standards. The downside is that they'll kill a great show too quickly if the ratings aren't there.

NBC will stick with a good show longer than anybody, Cheers and The Office are examples of shows that other networks would have killed after three episodes. Seinfeld is another exapmle of NBC sticking with a good show that others would have killed.

I guess FOX hasn't realized yet that their warped idea of "news coverage" doesn't mix with comedy. Both this show and their attempt to rip off Jon Stewart's Daily Show were miserable failures.

And yet they have another "news" sitcom scheduled for this fall. And while I'd like to believe that they can keep the right wing politics out of it (as they have on most of their successful network shows), the fact that the series stars known Republican shills Patricia Heaton and Kelsey Grammer isn't really a good sign......

It's true. Cheers finished its first season near dead last in the ratings. It proceeded to win the Emmy for best comedy and began to find its audience in year two.

Why give a fuck then? You've already made up your mind that because the "shills" as you call them, isn't a really good sign for the tv series.

Funny thing is, I wouldn't have guessed that Kelsey and Patricia are Republicans until you brought it up. I'll be. You learn something everyday here at the links. Out.

I'm just saying that the politics of FAUX News should stay the fuck out of FOX television. Especially the comedy shows.
