Default Question for drummers (and others!)

What was the best drum sound you ever heard Alex get on a recording?
I ask this because I felt like poor recording/mixing quality helped doom the VH III album. (despite some great song writing)
And the new tunes with Sammy ('04) did not do his kit justice.
Al is such a powerful player, and I know he cares as much about his sound as what he's playing.
If the boys record a new album, I really hope they bring a professional producer into 5150 to help them get the best sound possible.
Personally, I loved the fat tone he found on the Balance album.
FUCK was a great "wet" sound.
    etc...
    What's your take?
(live recordings from this tour, anyone?)

1984, a nice warm sound, using acoustic, electronic drums, along with the roto toms. Love the snare sound from '98 and '04.

Of all things, the drum sound on the version of "Right Now" from the dvd of "Live:Right Here, Right Now" is simply the most thunderous Al's ever sounded, in my opinion.

I would say the best overall sound was definately on 1984,although his sound was powerful on Balance. The snare sound on "5150" was amazing. He actually used an acoustic snare, acoustic cymbals, and all the other drums were electric.

Not a drummer but have played a bunch of shitty ones.

IMO the best sounding drums were on 1984 and in paticular, Girl Gone Bad.

The ending of that song for whatever reason gives me chills hearing Eddie, Mike and Alex playing off each other.
