Default Is it so crazy to think Wolfie has talent?

I doubt Eddie sucked when he was sixteen. Having the ability to play in front of 10,000 is a different story and only time will tell if he can pull it off. But I think it's in his blood...

Shit I've been playin' guitar for 20+ years and Ed was probably better at sixteen than I'll ever be...

    Talent usually skips the generation.

Whether or not Wolfgang has talent isn't the point of a lot of the debate going on here. Kathy Valentine (Go-Go's) has talent, but I don't want her as the next bassist of VH as long as Mikey is alive and kicking ass. (Some people would not want her regardless!) To me and a lot of other fans, Mikey is THE BASSIST of VH and always will be.

I am willing to concede he is a talented kid - without ever hearing anything by him. They wouldn't drag him out there if he couldn't handle it. But he should be in a band with Aric, not Alex. And he should be playing a guitar/bass that isn't striped like his Dad's.

In any case, we're forced to "wait and see." Within 48 hours after the first show or two there will be video clips of WVH on this forum for public scrutiny.

It isn't crazy to think he has talent...(two words...DNA lol)...it is crazy to think he'll ever be accepted by fans who hoped 2007 would be 1981 again. Alot (maybe most) people here see Wolf as being the reason they aren't getting a true "reunion."

The irony is that without Wolf, they probably wouldn't be getting a 3/4 reunion or reimagining or whatever this may be.

I'm just trying to be thankful that there is some form of Van Halen in 2007...and maybe some more Van Halen in the years to follow. If Wolf was the impetus to get the greatest guitar player in the world to pull the bottle of Loon out of his ass, hit the woodshed, bury a 20+ year hatchet with DLR, and possible record something that isn't porn music (or worse, "Up for Breakfast") then I think we should be thanking the kid...
    I like Van Halen.

Right on! It's better than the alternative (I think) because the alternative doesn't include MA anyway.

you guys are missing the point...who cares if he has talent...he doesn't belong in that band.....
    let's be real...EVH was GOD

I will never understand the "he doesn't belong" argument.

Did Sam belong in "that band"? No. Did Gary? No. "That" band fell apart over 20 years ago. They were fortunate that the musical climate and the new singer's abilities meshed and enjoyed something that few bands ever get...a second chance.

"That" band is gone..."this" band was literally formed around Wolfie. How can he "not belong?"

In retrospect, the best thing "this" band could do would be change the name...so all the pisser and moaners could shuffle back to the Android's Dungeon and enjoy "Classic Van Halen" without worrying about Wolfie lowering the value of their signed copy of "Diver Down." But that would be pretty fucking stupid considering that 3 of the 4 members of "this" band are named Van Halen!

Let it go! "That band" was incredible...and "that" band released 6 unbelievable albums of history changing rock and roll. But "that" band is long gone...so unless you can get your DeLorian up to 88 mph let it go and try to enjoy what we have today.
    I like Van Halen.

let me explain it to you...........see sammy hagar and gary cherone....you know those 2 guys?...they were professional musicians...in previous bands...

    following so far?

not a 16 year old kid that never played a live date in his life...

and those 2 guys...sammy and cherone...yeah...they came in the band because of the previous singer quit/fired....not because ed wants his kid in the band now...

    very simple actually
    let's be real...EVH was GOD

He may have talent....he probably does since his dad is EVH!! All I know is that Ed is hyping the shit out of his son, as every dad should do, and if Wolf doesn't rip out there, there's going to be a lot more pissed off people. Wolf's got really big shoes to fill and a fanbase of 30 years to make happy.....good luck!

if the reviews from that first show aren't all positive...which knowing the internet, won't be...there's going to be a problem
