Default The Perfect Monster - - Frankenstein Divebomb Style Part III

As I posted the destruction of my last Frankenstein I started making new parts for what will be as perfect a replica as possible. I've rusted parts so that they look 30 years old, I've modified and butchered pickguards until I'm satisfied that I'm dead on, and now I've perfected the single-coil pickup. This part has always stumped me as I knew it wasn't just a red plastic cover like I did in the past. It took me 45 minutes and I'm probably not completely sold on it so I'll probably do a little more to it. I'm close...

You're hardcore, Kyle. I never had any interest in making a VH replica guitar until you started posting pics of what you do.

You know, this is another thing that sets me off. Fans/players have been making kick-ass replicas for years and years and EVH's "official" replica is $25k. Do you know how much it takes to make one of these and do a pretty decent job? About $1k. I've made a few replicas of his different guitars and I don't get a wholesale discount on parts, either.

Keep up the great work Divebomb. You are proving that one can make a equal, if not better, version than the Fender Custom Shop.

Thanks Guys!; that means a lot! As many times as I've started over on this guitar because of the "details" you would think I'd be satisfied. I really want to have a guitar on the wall that Ed thinks is his original. The EVH/Fender Replica is pretty cool, but it's still made by the suits so it's missing the passion in my opinion. I truly love the guitars and the artist behind them so my heart is in this... and not for a paycheck; trust me I could have put all my kids through college if I would have accepted the offers I've received for these... and I'd be backlogged for years!
Here are the parts I've got so far. I have to finish the slot in the pickguard still.

I just can't ever make up my mind. I made a different neck from a really awesome piece of wood and decided I wanted a few different headstocks on the wall. Once I finished this neck I know this was going to get installed and it plays great too!

How do you rust your parts quickly?
    Salt spray?

I tape them to the bottom of my surfboard like everyone else.

I use muratic acid and water and lightly spray the mixture on the parts and let it sit overnight. Once it's to the desired "rustyness" rinse it off and let it dry very well. I would spray some satin lacquer over it to slow the rust down after that. You won't stop it, but you can slow it down a little.

    Looks great Kyle.
I'd keep the Kramer neck as it sets it apart from the Fender replicas.

Thanks Dino, I am. I knew when I finished the neck that it was a keeper. It's by far the best playing guitar in the house now. I put it together and adjusted nothing. It was just right! Got the Custom Shop 78 in there too and it screams.
