Just out of curiousity, how big was the Castle Donnington Monster of Rock Festival they used to play back in the day with Dave? With the bands they had on the bill it had to be a pretty big event, and I believe DLR headlined it once in 1986 after EEAS. Did VH just stop going or did the event just stop?

Ok, enough hijacking for one thread, I'll stop!

Don't think Dave headlined, he was on the bill. I believe it was KISS and Maiden that co-headlined that year. 50-60 thou. maybe, no where near as big as the US deal.

That UK MOR gig in '88 with DLR third billed broke an attendance record at that point with 107,000 attendees. Two deaths in the audience during the day put an end to those figures growing at future events. I think it was scaled back to the 50,000-60,000 capacity as had been the norm up 'til that point, probably the same attendance when VH played there in '84.

Roth actually moved up on the bill ahead of Kiss at subsequent dates on that '88 Tour...
