Default Do we have Wolfgang to thank for bringing Ed and Dave back together?

Could it be that we have Wolfgang to thank for getting this Ed and Dave show on the road? Its quite possible that Wolfgang has inspired Edward to get his shit together and bring the CVH with Dave. Its my understanding that Wolfgang is a bigger fan of CVH than the Van Hagar era catalog.

Well, when you ask, "do we have Wolfgang to thank", it depends how you interpret that. Do I think Wolfie sat Ed down and said, "Dad, you need to get back with Dave and give your fans some kind of a tour"? No. I don't picture any kind of scenario like that.

However, I do think Wolfie INSPIRED Ed to get his shit together because Ed has a selfish agenda of wanting to play on stage with his son. I don't mean selfish in a bad way, just in a way that maybe Ed always dreamed of doing this with his son and he wants to see it through.

So yeah, I think Wolfie was a key element in bringing this together but not in the way I think you're insinuating.

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

Considering the source, Eddie has stated a few times that Wolfgang really liked the CVH era of music. I remember one specifc time when Wolfgang finally listened to the 6 pack and said to Ed, "How come they don't make music like this anymore?"

that's not how the quote went, he listened to some of the records Ed had gotten delivered from warner cause he didn't even have a copy of them....ed never stated that he listened to only the six pack.

what you've got here is a band that's out of options, only Sam and Dave will work in the mind of the public so bringing in a new guy is out of the question. After the results of the last tour I'm pretty sure Sammy and Ed won't be working together anytime soon unless Ed and Sam can reconnect as friends which I don't see happening. Ed and Al have been trying to get it together with Dave for awhile now, what is this the 4th time. Why not go out with a bang? Dave's dying to do it, he's probably taking way less money than Sam and Mike were and Ed and Al can pretty much call the shots. Wolfie will make some cash.....it's a good call from a financial standpoint. and if anyone really belives the bottom line is not about $$$$ you're living a lie.

I think we can thank the almighty $$$$$$$$$$$
One noticeable difference between Judas Priest and Metallica...
...Judas Priest only has one gay guy in the band.

So fans have Wolfgang to thank for finally getting Dave back in the band, but on the other hand, we have Wolfgang to hate because he replaced the most beloved member of the band, Mike.

That kid's therapy bills will be astronomical.

I don't think that Ed needs the money. Didn't they make $40 mil on the '04 tour?
not to mention all the royalites theses guys get on their music.

Never underestimate the greed of rock n' roll musicians. You think The Rolling Stones still tour and play the same burned out couple dozen songs and charge hundreds of dollars per ticket because those old fuckers like playing outside under shitty weather conditions? Or because Keith's drug and doctor bills strain his bank account? No, it's because those guys simply will never have enough money no matter how retardedly rich they are.

    Default 40 mill?

After the lawyers and road crew and everyone else get their cut, what's that, 20 million?

And split 4 ways, Ed would get 5 million?

    After taxes, that's 2.5 million.

After Val gets half, that about 1 million.

So yes, Edward probably could use the money.

You and I probably would be happy to have 5 million in the bank, but we're not Eddie..

exactly. What's that Chris Rock line "if Bill Gates woke up with Oprah's money he'd kill himself"

Is this all about the money? Nope. But it's probably the top 3 reasons.

Mike got paid far below what the other three band members took home.
