Default Here In The Warehouse - The Dave Matthews Band Thread

Gotta be more than just a few of us DMB'ers around here, right?

    *insert sound of crickets*

Been to more shows than I care to admit (ok, about 30) and always looking for others who can appreciate these guys. Coming off a great show last night in Mansfield, Ma, I'll be heading to a couple in Hartford Sat and Sun. Should make for a great weekend -

Never been a to a show, unfortunately, but I've been a fan since my junior year in high school. That was...95 or 96 when I first got introduced to their music.

Being that I was a sax player, I was just waaay into this band. Even covered "Stay" back when that tune first came out. Great band. Haven't really checked them out in a few years though.

Double D - you da man! Thank you!

there's gotta be more of us Linkers into DMB. The Police aren't exactly metal...and there's plenty of those fans here.

Warehouse is a great tune. So many...

do you have Listener Supported? The intro is so exciting. "Smells good in here tonight..."

one of my faves is Rapunzel:

    Ha, open wide
Oh so good I'll eat you
    Take me for a ride
    In your sweet delicious,
    Perfect, little mouth
    There upon I linger
    You will have no doubt
That I do my best for you
    I do, love...

    and later:

    Hip lock up so tight
    you drive me crazy
    But crazy is alright
    With you looking at me
    You make me feel high
Every single thing you do to me
    Is like I'm drunk

Given me, given me the shivers

Christ, I do enjoy a man who can write good lyrics.

ok, I'm gettin' all excited. Let me just say this, and then I'll stop:

Drummer is incredible. So fluid, fine, and clean. Kinda the way I see Ed's style.

Listener Supported was a staple in my CD player for years. Used to love it.

What makes DMB so unique is that it's almost pointless to have their studio albums. Their songs have evolved so much over the years that the live versions give them an edge that the studios just don't capture. To listen to something like "Crash" (the studio album) now is almost embarrassing because of how undeveloped and overproduced the songs sound.

If you like Listener Supported (and I sure as hell did) then you'll love Central Park. Believe it or not it blows LS away. The DVD is sick....you could grab it off Ebay for about $8. Some of the best versions of many songs all took place in that one show. A DMB must have.

I'll get it for sure. But I gotta have more than just 2 CD's from these guys. Aren't there at least a few studios that you like?

I have no idea how many CD's they've put out. I discovered them quite a while after everyone else did.

So true about their live material. The first live album I heard was the Red Rocks cd years ago. A drummer friend of mine was a big time Carter Beauford fan. After I opened his eyes to the greatness of one AVH, he introduced me to Carter's playing. That guy is amazing. And live, these guys kick major ass.

The only two studio CD's I do not recommend are Stand Up and Remember Two Things. Remember Two Things has classics on it but they're in their very early stages. Most reappeared on future CD's. Stand Up is just a steaming pile of turd. Run far from it.

Here's my take on the other studios:

Under The Table And Dreaming - Outstanding album but most every song is much better as live releases. Loaded with DMB staples.

Crash - Stellar. You should own this even though most are better live.

Before These Crowded Streets - Most DMB fans consider this the best. I don't, but it's a must have.

Busted Stuff - I love this one. Outstanding production. Bartender is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard.

Everyday - Most DMB fans shit on this one but I like it. It was a real 'poppy' change for them at the time. Very un-DMB-like.

I see you started a thread in Main and people had a little fun with it (I never posted in it.) Can't sweat the small stuff, dude.....gotta expect people to be smart asses when it comes to tour news. Can't take that shit personal.

Well, I don't like Kiss or a few other bands that have threads here but I don't
go in there telling everyone they suck.I've actually never posted in them ,ever...
To each his own...We can't help it that you can't understand any music beyond Kiss or AC/DC dude....

DMB does not suck.....Might not be your taste, but they definitely do not suck.
Ask any musician friend ya know if they suck, because you are obviously tone deaf...
