A really good song that becomes great when heard live. Big Al comes thru big time on the skins.

Why is it that a lot of people rag on this song? I like it. It's fast, has good lyrics, and Ed really smokes on it.

Just wanted to hear what others think about it.

Honestly, that song pasted one big-ass goofy grin on my face when I first heard it in 3/86.

The next track hurt.

But "Get Up"? One of the finest moments on 5150, far as a Bug sees it...

"Get Up" and "Good Enough" were the two tunes I used to beat to death when I first got the tape in '86. I used to hate how "Why Can't This Be Love?" sat right between 'em! I also liked "Best Of Both Worlds" a lot.

Now I still dig both those tunes, but generally pass on "...Worlds". The other tunes that have gotten better over time (for me) are "5150" (probably the best tune on the album) and "Summer Nights".

But yeah, "Get Up" still rocks. Interesting how "Get Up" was the flip side of the "Why Can't This Be Love?" 45 release...

No probably about 5150 being the best one on the album and summer nights the second. Two of the most underated songs of VH for sure. Get up isn't bad. And every time I hear "good enough" in that part where every thing stops and he goes "oo" I always lean my head to the side and make a weird face. don't know why but I always do it without thinking about it. How was that for a pointless story!

The one part I really like in the "Live Without a Net" video is seeing Ed and Al crank this one.

I also hate the fact that "Why Cant This Be Love" is in the middle of "Good Enough" & "Get Up".

"Get Up" gets the big thumbs up from 79th!!

5150 is possibly my favorite VH record, but the only part of 'Get Up' that appeals to me is the breakdown before the solo. Otherwise, to me, the song just seems to lack dynamics and any musical interest. It's also a bit too long; 2 verses would have sufficed; 3 was overkill.

"Summer Nights" was and is my favorite off that Album. It's got great guitar, and the first time I heard it--was last summer on a Hot Summer Night believe it or not. Summer Nights was the first song on 5150 to scream out "this kicks ass". I love that song. 5150 later became a favorite because of Eddie's amazing guitar work. I never really liked Get Up, I found the Guitar work, especially in the intro, while skilled, to sound kind of...choked off, I guess would be the way to put it.

Good Enough was an awesome tune, as well.

The song ain't dirty it's really just the way we sing it...

As long as were on the subject of 5150, I've noticed that a lot of people have this as their favorite album (it's actually my second favorite), but anyways I've seen a lot of people rip on "Dreams" and "WCTBL". Don't seem like that bad of songs. However, lot of people here seem to despise them. What do you 5150 fans think?

I personally have a huge sentimental attachment to 5150. That whole album just has energy all over it. If only they had recorded "Best of Both Worlds" as ballsy as it sounded live...

I used to dig it, BUT I think time has really taken it´s toll on that one.

Unfortunately.

Alex´s drum work is nice, though.

When I first heard the lead off single "WCTBL" I was somewhat disappointed. Especially the uninspired guitar solo. A few weeks later when the actual album came out and the first tune "Good Enough" blasted on my stereo, I was relieved that it actually rocked.
"Get Up" is a real toe tapper for sure. The use of the Trans Trem wiggle stick was very cool.

"Summer Nights" is a very cool riff especially the Chet Atkinsish finger picking.
"5150" is simply one of Ed's greatest riffs.

A great album to kick off a new era of VH.
The concert here in OKC in `86 is one of the best I've ever seen. Made "Live Without a Net" look like a "Starland Vocal Band" concert.

5150 is without a doubt, one of thee,if not thee most inspirational, feel good, ass kickin' rock n roll records of all time!

"Get Up" for me, does exactly what it says... Makes me wanna GET UP! That song, lyrically and musically, is like a pure adrenaline shot! When I listen to it I feel like I could take on an entire army. I especially love the line "You say that love has got you down well that's BULLSHIT! Love has got ya down then love will pick you right back up". Awesome.

No question 5150 is my favorite Sammy VH album. Great energy on that entire record - definitely a turning point for the band. I hate to hear people ripping on Dreams & WCTBL...I think they're great tunes and were/are just overplayed on the damn radio. There aren't many radio stations around here that have the balls to play tunes like Get Up/Summer Nights/5150, so they overplay the "hits".
