this is what i got out of it.

    1. Early stages of the anti Dave comming out.
    2. Eddie problem with other gituar players is not that he wanted to hide his licks or was pissed that they copied him from them it was they where just jerks and he dosent care if other copy him.
3.Money was still a key thing with them(trouble with WB)
    4. Eddie patiance with different kinds of music, just because the record company or Dave hated something he came up with dosent mean he gives up on it. the early jump and Wild Life stuff was just raw and plain but he knew what it could become.
5.That Eddie dosent like to rock the boat with the problems with WB or Dave but does like, like most of us do, like to vent.

Finally gave this a listen. Sounds like Ed's a little intoxicated. Its always hard for me to believe how insecure he seems to be.

I found it really cool listening to his ideas for songs and thinking "wow that's going to be 1984... and you don't even know it yet."

    Great find.

I love his comments on part 1 about Diver Down. Everything he said is exactly how I've always felt. It's got a bunch of covers but they've been Halenized and sound completely different than the originals. You can tell he had a ton of enthusiasm for how Diver Down came out.

One more thing, I've always heard that Ed's least favorite album was Diver Down but I always interpreted that as he didn't like the album. But this interview clearly shows he loves it. It comes through pretty obvious in parts 1 and 8. I love hearing his enthusiasm about it because it's always been one of my favorites.

Also, that whole interview is one of the coolest interviews I've ever heard. How could you not love the story about Alan Holdsworth and the candid remarks about Joe Perry and Ritchie Blackmore? I don't know if interviews still happen like that, but to me it sounded like an interview that would have taken place in 1982. It was so genuine and unscripted. When Ed asked him not to print something you just knew the guy wouldn't. The mutual respect and trust was very evident. Nowadays I'm not so sure it would play out like that.
