    Default Your own signature guitar?

I was thinking to myself lately. If I had a signature guitar what would it be like? What company would make it/ Would I make it? What speacial things could it do?

    Here's what I'd do.

-A basewood strat style body with a quilt top
    -All Birdseye neck
    -Humbucking bridge pup
    -Sustainer bridge pickup
    -Killswitch

    Thats just the baisic components.

How would you do your signature model?

    Cool thread...

I would take a Wolfgang and do a few things differently... I would do a Wolfie Special body with a birdseye neck and then:

    1. Add a Trans-Trem instead of the normal double locking Floyd Rose.
    2. Instead of the double humbucker configuration, keep the humbucker in the bridge and have a single coil in the middle and neck position ala Stratocaster with the Gold Lace Sensor pickups there.
    3. The three position toggle switch would be Up Position-Humbucker; Middle Position-Middle and Neck both on; Down Position-Neck only

Dodge, when you put this into production, I'll be the 1st one to buy.

I would have a Stratocaster with a classic headstock, classic Strat pup in the neck position and a humbucker in the bridge position, no middle for me. It would have a contoured neck heel like the Deluxe Strats today and locking tuners. I could go with either a Floyd Rose or a two-point modern Strat tremolo. Neck shape would be like the 62 AV Strats.

Oh yeah, it would only be available in red.

Cool thread. I've got a Sadowsky NYC 4-string and Tobias Killer B 5-string, which are great, and I'd love to add a USA Spector NS-2 and Pedulla ET5 to my stable at some point, but I'd love to have a "signature model," custom-built . . . by whom I'm not sure (there's a lot of boutique luthiers out there), but I've thought a lot about the details.

    signature model 5-string bass:

slightly downsized and elongated Jazz Bass style body: swamp ash body with quilted maple top and caramel/burnt orange translucent finish
    5-piece maple/bubinga asymmetrical neck (neck-through design) with tung-oil finish
    17.5 mm string spacing
24-fret birdseye maple fingerboard with black dots and with medium jumbo stainless steel frets
    maple headstock overlay w/signature
    Hipshot HB6Y - 1/2'' Y Key Ultralite (chrome) tuners (3+2 headstock alignment)
Hipshot A style brass (chrome) bridge
EMG 40P (neck) and 40J (bridge) pickups
    Aguilar OBP-3 preamp
    black control knobs
    Dunlop straplocks
"With me in the band, it's one of those miraculous 97-97 deals. It's 97 percent you and 97 percent moi. Is it Mick or Keith? I don't know" -DLR

"We eventually started playing clubs, and we also did weddings. We played everything from the Ohio Players to K.C. & the Sunshine Band. You would love the sight of Van Halen doing 'Get Down Tonight'! But by the third set when everybody was good and tanked up--boy, we'd be blazin'!" -Michael Anthony

I would basically keep the Wolfie standard but enlarge the body as I am 6-4" and right now I look like a praying mantis playing a uekelele right now. The enlarged body would have a 5 star quilt maple top with a big piece of mahogany underneath with a 5A birdseye fretboard going into yet again 5 A quilt maple headstock. It would have a George Lynch screamin deamon in the bridge with a sustainer in the neck. The headstock would be like the George Lynch super V model with the two points underneath. It would be a light see- through sea-foam color with matching headstock to show the 5A wood through. The fretboard would have mother of pearl inlays and pearloid schallers. Original Floyd in Chrome with a big brass floyd block for sustain and floating with a quick engage switch to only allow it to go down.Buttah!!!!

Man, when I was younger I had pages and pages of what my signature guitar would look like.

    Basically...

-Shark/Destroyer type body, just a little more refined.
    -Birdseye 22 fret maple neck.
-Wolfgang style headstock with Ivory tuners.
-Single Bridge humbucker, preferably with the tone of a Custom-Custom, but not as hot and maybe a bit more bottom end.
-Optional sustainer model with sustainer in neck position.
-Single volume knob labelled as TONE like Edward does, no tone knobs though.
-Pickup selector switch below the volume knob so it doesn't get in the way.
-Still stuck between a standard chrome floyd rose double locking trem system, or a trans trem, I guess it can come with either or haha.

I think thats about it. I really love strat style bodies and all... but ever since I first drew this custom guitar back in grade 8 I've dreamt about it ever since haha.

    - wolfgang standard doubleneck
    - with a rea floyd on the 6 string
    - tapped pickups with a special tapped setting for the middle switch position
    - two cable output jacks, both would simultaneously be used for either guitar.

I would love to have a modified Ibanez Iceman, cherry-sunburt, Seymore Duncan pickups and a chrome floyd-rose.

A custom Strat I have dreamed up

Chambered Mohogany body with Quilted Maple Cap
Wilkinson/Gotoh VS100N Tremolo Bridge (gold finish)
Schaller Mini Locking Tuners (gold finish)
    Birdseye Maple Neck
Calibrated set of Seymour Duncan SSL-5 Custom Staggered Pickups (RW/RP for the middle)
Dyed Black, sanded down, then dyed green for that 3 dimensional quilt look.

I have my signature guitar. Well, if you count choosing every detail "signature" (even though it sounds more like custom):

    -Green Driskill Diablo
-Maple over mahogany, set mahogany neck
-Rosewood board, no fret markers on fretboard
-Baseball bat neck (think mid-90's Jeff Beck type)
-Non-locking brass tremolo w/ locking tuners
-Piezo pickup w stereo output jack
    -Van Zandt custom wound pickups

One of these days I'd like to make a nice superstrat with a Floyd, as well,
all unfinished with light polyurethane finish.
How open-minded do I have to be before my brains start spilling out?

I was actually lucky enough a few months ago to work with a luthier to build my signature guitar.

    Alder Strat Body
One piece unfinished maple neck(wolfgang specs)
    Oversized Strat headstock
    OFR
    Bareknuckle VH II bridge humbucker
    Sustainer neck pickup

if you guys ever get a chance and the scrill to do some business...I would really recomend it...
    Van Halen....nothing else is needed....
