    Default is this the end?

Assuming this tour happens and it's somewhat successful (let's assume a bit better at the gate than 2004). Do you think this will be the last we see of the Van Halen brothers for a while? Or do you think Ed intends on recording with this lineup?

Yes...I believe so.....as far as anything with the brand name "Van Halen" is concerned......Even if this (rumored) tour goes off without a hitch...I just can't see Dave and Eddie being able to sustain a working relationship.....and history will back up this assumption......Too much "water under the dam" so to speak.......

Ed might write and record more music in the future.....Maybe for soundtracks, or contributing to other musicians stuff.....But to say that someday, Van Halen, The Band, might record an albums worth of new music.....

    Don't hold your breath......

That is why I will see this tour (if they tour).....It will be the last time Van Halen <insert number here>...... will tour......

Dave will find some way to fuck it up like he did last time.....

Mike will mysteriously reappear in the band......

And Sam will be back.....and then leave again.....

    Janie will become the manager.......

    Another five years of silence.......

He clearly wasn't happy with the sales of III.What if a new album with this line up has comparable numbers. Could he see this as backlash against Wolfie?

And steve mcqueen...to you're comment about seeing this tour(if it happens)
because this may be the last time to do so.

It is also the reason i will go see it with my son( if i can afford it)...but what is ironic is that it is also the reason i want to see the ORIGINAL again.

I think "the end" happened for VH a good 10 years ago. This spasmodic reunion / best of packages is just prolonging their burial. As far as I can see, there is no real life left in this band.

As long as Ed is sober I think they will make an album and do another tour with Dave. I really think they have finally matured, maybe Mike will be involved in the future but somehow I doubt it. This is Van Halen until it becomes "Wolfie's" band.

All we can do is at this point is speculate, but a new album would be sick!

Oh please, don't torture us with an album with Roth on it. I think he's well and truly proven that he can no longer cut the mustard in the studio.

There is the slight possibility there will be a Sam/Dave VH tour after this *potential* Van-Roth-Wolf-Halen upcoming tour. But, yes, it is probably over for the band Van Halen as it has been known. I'm game for hearing what else the guys can come up with, though. Maybe Ed wants to make a record with Wolfie (?). Maybe Chickenfoot happens (?). Maybe there's some new thing with Ed, Al, and some other musicians (?). Maybe Ed really does work with Gary on some random project again (?). Maybe solo albums (?). I'd like to see what they can do outside of the boxed up parameters that being "Van Halen" now means.

Is it just me, or their something paradoxically psychotic about the quoted post?

BTW, the vocals on the 2003 "Diamond Dave" album were excellent. Even if the selection of songs was less than that.

The end was 1996, the band never recovered and never will. I don't care how many half-ass reunions and tours they do.

    Album? ROFL!! Yeah right.
