OXFORD, Conn. -- A car has been discovered submerged in an Oxford lake, according to state police.

Police said that a sport diver discovered the vehicle (1993 white Mercury Cougar with a black cloth top) while diving in Lake Zoar Tuesday.

The diver called state police with the vehicle's information Wednesday.

Police said information provided by the diver about the vehicle matches that of a car involved in a missing person's case.

Police said that crime technicians were going to the lake to recover the vehicle.

About 10 years ago, a fisherman spotted a van submerged in a canal here in S. Florida. Turned out that six missing teenagers were inside. They had been missing for almost twenty years.
