    Default Tour Gear

Something (rumored) fall tour related but not the same Wolfie VS. Mike crap.

Say they do tour as it seems that they are this fall, what equipment would the band use? Do you think they will keep it the same that they have the past few tours?

I think Eddie will play the Frankie the majority of the shows and debut the new guitar for some songs and maybe that will become his main axe later on the tour. I hope he goes back to the wireless, I could see him and Dave getting all tangled up alot with the cord.

As far as Alex goes, I would love to see a return to the OU812 tour drum set up he had. I didn't like the sound he had after that as much.

    Dave will be Dave.

The bass player will be the bass player.

I expect the big stage to make its comeback as well, I would love to see a full ring around the arena like U2 has done recently. That would give the crowd a much more up close feel to the show, especially if ticket prices are what we think they might be. Those who can only afford the cheap seats can still get close to the band.
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

I think he'll use the new Wolfgang most of the time. Hopefully by the time the tour starts (insert 'if' here if necessary) the guitar will at least be announced as coming out, because that would be the marketing opportunity of a lifetime for Ed. I'm sure we'll see the Franky replica used as well. And I'm sure we'll see a mountain of EVH 5150 III cabs as well.

Ed will be using 5150 III amps and cabinets. If he's not using a Fender Wolfgang prototype then I'd put him mostly on his number one Peavey Wolfgang (unfortunately with the gawd-damned sustainer)and the Frankie Replica for a couple of songs... maybe solo and encore. I doubt the Frankies are road-tough enough for a long haul.

Alex same kit he toured with in 2004...

    DLR - 1 Shure SM58 microphone.

WVH - who the hell knows.

Didn't Edward destroy his #1 Wolfie (tobacco sunburst) and the Green one when he had his little temper tantrum in Tucson?

Or are you referring to that sunburst Special he plays?

marketing opportunity?....So would showing up for the R&R Hall of Fame Induction w/Roth to announce a fall tour, or announcing the tour via this month's EVH cover of Guitar World.
Believe it when you see it.

The tour (if true) seems to have been developing more recently than back when that interview was done which was probably in late mid-late May.
Yes they should have been at the HOF, but evidentally EVH was in no condition to make such an appearance. I would rather see them involved with the next VH1 Honors if they are still functional then.

I also don't see EVH playing the Peavey's anymore, its either the new Wolfgangs or Frankie. I think we have a better chance of seeing the Kramers than the Peavey's.
But whatever he plays, dump that sustainer! If he needed the help when he was loaded fine, but not anymore. And dump the cord as well.

True, but he wasn't trying to sell new gear back then, so...

I hope Al doesn't go back to that massive oversized kit. His more fully functional kits of recent years are sweet. I like his kit on the VH III tour. Really nice and not borderline comical like some of them we've seen through his earlier history with the 10 kick drums and fusion reactors and such. I know people are crazy about the big showman drum kits, but it's just for show and I prefer function over form. We're all grown up now, so don't try to bullshit me with some stupid shit Al. Just fkn jam.

Nope it was my understanding he trashed just the green one...

He was seen playing the Cherry sunburst in the House Of Pedals fiasco, the Skank Ho Video collection and at his Ho & Hangers On Gathering. At least that appears to be his number one with the fucking sustainer on it.
